Thursday - Cloudy and a little cool

F woke me up again this morning, so I had a serious talk with myself about whether I should get up or snooze longer. I decided to snooze, but got up around the right time. I had breakfast and then got dressed. I went downstairs and waited for the taxi. It didn’t come. Usually it is there 5 minutes before it was scheduled, but today it didn’t show up. I had asked that my afternoon taxi be cancelled, not my morning one! I called my supervisor, who called the taxi company. They’d cancelled both. Sigh. They sent another taxi right away, but I got to work with just 7 minutes to spare. Too close for me.

Classes, after all that went well, and so did the meeting I had afterwards, except the taxi driver came upstairs looking for me! Umm, that taxi was cancelled…remember? Oh dear.

After my meeting, I turned in my paperwork, asked if I could leave my books and shoes behind and went to Arpeggio for lunch. That was nice. The owner was surprised to see me by myself, but the restaurant wasn’t busy and I had a nice lunch. I had my usual soboru-don.

I did think about trying to take a bus downtown, but then I thought I would rather walk and see the shops along the way. I often go along the road with F, but he isn’t interested in the shops and the car doesn’t slow down, so this way worked. I had a good walk, but by the time I got to S-Mall, I was a little tired.

I went into the mall and did a little shopping. Nothing major. I figured I deserved some ice cream, so got that, then did more walking around. Around 5 pm I went to Doutors and found myself a quiet corner. I had a lovely glass of iced rooibos tea and read part of a book that has been on my phone for yonks. It is good actually. F called me about 5:30 and showed up around 6pm. I handed over my prepaid card and invited him to get himself a drink. I got another rooibos, but this time a hot one. He brought back the drinks and the card, he said he put some more money on it. He’s sweet sometimes!

We talked about what to do for dinner. I had earlier suggested bentos all round since I wouldn’t be able to cook in time. F countered with going out for drinks, just us two and a bento for K. I let him talk me into it.

We got K some food and dropped it off at the house. We both changed our clothes and then he called us a taxi.  We went to an izakaya that he likes and had some yakitori and F had a couple of drinks. After a while we decided to leave and go to a different place, so we went out and walked to the second bar. Unfortunately, it was closed tonight! Oh no!

We went to another place, more of a snack I think. It was still a bar, not too busy, but F has a bottle stored there for himself. He didn’t have any of it, he had sake. I finally had a drink, an umeshu on the rocks. It was nice, not too strong, not too sweet. There was more food but after two cups of sake, F was ready to go back to the house. I was long past ready, so he had a taxi called and when it arrived, we came back here.

It was a nice evening out. I can’t help thinking it was pretty stupid of us to go out right now though. I hope we don’t end up regretting it.

I stayed up and watched some TV and then basically started blogging.

I’ve no idea what we’ll get up to tomorrow. I have an evening class, but F is off. I want and need to go to the post office to mail a parcel to Canada, so I hope that F will help me with that. He doesn’t have to do much, just take me to the post office really. I was thinking about taking it to work with me today, but I didn’t want to carry it that far!

So that was my day. A bit different from the usual stay and home and whine thing, but all in all a good day.

Come back later if you feel like it and hear about my Friday. Until tomorrow….
