Saturday - Sunny but windy and a little cool

I woke up fairly late but was up and basically dressed before 11, so that was good! F made his mother’s brunch and then the two of us went out for lunch. We drove over to Fujishima and found a new restaurant for us. It was in an old storage house and it was very nice. We had a very reasonable lunch for less than a thousand yen each.

After lunch, we did a little shopping. We stopped into a grocery store and looked at the hundred yen shop, then went over to the hardware store. I bought some paper and I think there was something for F, but anyway, we left.  We found a nearby drugstore and picked up a couple of things there too.

This looks so much like the Alberta prairie that I can't believe it!

We went back to Tsuruoka and went to a hundred yen shop. That was F’s idea, not mine.  I didn’t buy very much, actually, I’m not sure I bought anything. We were going to go to Komeda Coffee, but the parking lot was really full. I suggested going to Starbucks instead.  We got there and there were lots of parking spaces, and even places to sit inside. Woot.

We spent about an hour in the Starbucks, it was nice. I had a Frappuccino and F had a coffee. I stopped him from having a nitro coffee though. I had one once and then didn’t sleep for hours! I finished the book on my phone I'd been reading for a couple of days. It was okay. Not special really, but okay.

We went to the nearby drugstore and grabbed a bottle of windshield washing liquid. He’d been looking for it everywhere we went today. He wanted a specific type and we finally found it.

We decided that we’d go and get bentos for dinner. I suggested going to the good place and F was okay with that. We drove along to the bento shop, I went in and picked what I wanted with F. It was crowded so F suggested that I go back to the car and wait.  That was fine.

I was sitting in the car when my phone’s earthquake alarm went off. Then, the car started shaking. It wasn’t too bad over here, it was around a 3 on the Japanese system, but it did last a long time. On the other side of the country there was a tsunami warning, I’m not sure if there was one or not.

I was on my phone right away, trying to check out my friends and if they were okay. Most of the people I know on that side of the country checked in, so that was good. F came back to the car with the food and we went back to the house.

When we got back, I got the food out and on the table. We ate and the bentos were good. I enjoyed mine a lot. I had a spicy chicken with fried rice and it was delicious.

I got to do the dishes and then I came upstairs. F came up a bit later and got ready for bed. He did take a shower too though. I did a bit of crochet and also watched the last three episodes of Ted Lasso on Apple+ TV. I really enjoyed it. The crochet too, although I’m nearly out of yarn. Sigh.

That’s about it really. F is most likely asleep. It’s late and I should get to bed soon. It’s been a mostly good day, even though the earthquake was something I’d rather hadn’t happened.

I’m actually not sure what we’ll get up to tomorrow so you might just have to come back and find out! Until tomorrow….

I don't miss earthquakes! What a way to cap a nice day out.

It sounds like spring has made it's way to you. Seems like not that long ago, you were shoveling snow every day. Must be a welcome change!

What's your latest crochet project? How can it be that you are running out of yarn? Lol. Time to go shopping! My mother used to do hour upon hour of crochet while watching television, but even if she crocheted 24/7 even now, I don't think she'd ever make it through her yarn stash!

Happy Spring!

Thank you! Yes, Happy Spring. I think that Spring might just be on the way, although it is quite early for us up here. Usually we have snow until April but it seems that it has gone. A very welcome change!

My project is a baby blanket from yarn that a friend left with me when she left Japan. I hope to finish it and send it to her. She bought the yarn about 4 years ago, but left last year. I think there might have been enough yarn for her crochet tension, but I crochet tightly, so it has been eating yarn. I got some yarn to join in to the blanket. It won't be the same dye lot, but it can't really be helped. Wish me luck with it!

And yes, earthquakes suck, although this one doesn't seem to have done as much damage as the last one we had a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for visiting!
