Friday - Cloudy but warmer

I stayed up a bit late last night, but I was very tired for some reason. I woke up early, made a trip downstairs and then went back to sleep. I ended up sleeping quite late. F went downstairs around 10 to cook for his mother and I slept a bit later until my alarm went off at 11. I got up then and stayed up!

I got dressed and a few minutes later F came upstairs. We decided to go to Fujishima again to go to the restaurant that we couldn’t go to last weekend. We drove out to Fujishima, parked, walked to the restaurant annnnddd….it wasn’t open! The one we went to last time was full, so we had to go somewhere else. We Google-Mapped other places and ended up going to a Korean restaurant/izakaya.  We were the only customers too. The woman who was there made us a very hot and delicious bibinba without meat. I thought it was delicious, but F thought it was too spicy!

After lunch, we came back into Tsuruoka and bought some stuff at the drug store, then headed over to Komeda Coffee. We had some coffee and I also had a sandwich plate with a little fried chicken and salad. I asked F to share the sandwiches with me, and he did.

We came back to the house to relax for a while. I watched the PBS news and afterwards they put on the piano show which I love.  Basically, they put a piano in a train station or an airport and then film people playing it. It is really fascinating. It’s a great time filler, one I look forward to seeing!

After 5 pm I started to get ready for work. I changed, brushed my teeth and then at 5:45 F got ready and we left. He dropped me off at work and I went in.  I had a good class tonight and it was quite bittersweet to say goodbye to the students. I’ve taught two of them for years, since I first covered for one of my friends.

F picked me up after class and we came back to the house first. I changed my clothes and then F and I left again. He’d found a new to us place in a local magazine today and we thought we’d check them out tonight.

We found the place, but we had to park fairly far away. We walked over and went in. We were the only customers tonight so got to have quite good food, quite soon. We had gyoza, yakitori and also some yakisoba. The gyoza were the best and the yakitori were quite good too.

We came back to the house when we finished eating. I took a shower and then I watched BlackkKlansman.  It was really good. I find it hard to believe that I have never watched a Spike Lee film before.

And that’s about it. It was a good day basically. I’m not sure what I’ll get up to on Saturday. There’s actually a movie in English at the cinema in Mikawa. It isn’t a good movie, but at this point I don’t really care! I just want to see a movie (masked and socially distanced in a cinema with fresh air circulating all the time).

Come back later if you like and hear all about my Saturday. Until tomorrow….
