Friday - Cloudy, a bit rain, with some sun

I went to bed late last night again so slept in quite late this morning. It didn’t matter much as F was sleeping in too. 

We got up and talked about going out. I gently suggested to F that he make his mother brunch. I don’t think he was going to do that otherwise. He made her some food and then we were free to leave for our lunch. 

We drove out to the Kamo Aquarium and had our lunch at the restaurant. It was…okay. It looked good, but I didn’t think it was great. After our meal, we went through the aquarium, but I realized that visitors to the aquarium have no concept of social distancing. The floor is marked in 2-metre distances, so F and I were hanging back so that the guy ahead of us wasn’t crowded. People would come around us and get in front of us. Hmm.  I just wanted to yell at them and ask them what in the heck they were thinking.  

After we finished at the aquarium, we went back into Tsuruoka and went to the big hardware store. F got some of K’s favourite drink there and then went off to look at the pet shop. I went with him, but then came back to the hardware stuff. I didn’t want to look at the pets.  I found a drawer that I plan to use for my kitchen cooking utensils. Enough of the cardboard box. I’ll wait until the holiday is over before I clean it up and fill it with my stuff. Everything will have to be washed before it goes in the drawer.

We spent a few minutes in a hundred yen shop near the hardware store, then headed off to see a new store. I had suggested going to the new Tsutaya store that just opened fairly near the house. We went and had a good snoop around. They have a nice stationary department, some cosmetics which surprise me, and then some DVDs. Of course, there are other things, but they didn’t interest me much. 

We hit up the hundred yen shop nearby and I bought a bicycle seat cover and some clips on a wire. I thought they’d be great at Christmas to display my cards. There is a new restaurant in this complex, but it wasn’t quite open yet and we weren’t hungry either.  We decided to go to Starbucks. 

We drove off to Starbucks. I thought it would be full, but it was nearly empty! We each had a Frappuccino, F had his usual and I tried the tea tiramisu Frappuccino. It was okay, but I didn’t love it. I think coffee would have been better. 

We weren’t hungry but decided that we had to go and eat because we wanted to get something for K. We went back to the restaurant that wasn’t open earlier and went in.  It’s a new pasta and doria restaurant that is connected to the Daiichi Hotel.  I had carbonara, F had an omurice and we ordered a take-out omurice for K.  My pasta was okay. It wasn’t the best carbonara I’ve ever had, F said the omurice was okay but not great. So, we might go again, but I think it isn’t as good as we hoped. The sad thing for me is that they close between lunch and dinner. I like going places for a late lunch, so that doesn’t work for me.

After dinner, we came back to the house. F gave his mother her dinner and we came upstairs. After a few hours, I took a shower, and F took one much, much later!

It’s late and I’m trying to wind down for the night. I’m not sure what we’ll get up to tomorrow. I hope that it’ll be good though. Come back later if you like and find out what happens! Until tomorrow….
