 Tuesday - Cold and rainy

I went to bed early last night but woke up around 6 am. I made a trip downstairs and then got back into bed and fell asleep. I didn’t really wake up until 8:30 or so and I snoozed even longer. Oops.

I dragged myself out of bed and got dressed. I put on some clothes and checked out my computer for a bit. I had lunch around 11:30, brought it upstairs and ate. After I ate I went downstairs and did the whole tooth-brushing, filling a water bottle, and combing hair kind of thing. I did manage to spill a bottle of very cold water all over myself. I was so glad that I hadn’t put on my work clothes yet!

I hadn’t seen K all day. She wasn’t around when I got up and she still wasn’t around when I left. I finally did leave. Today the taxi was 10 minutes late and I was on the verge of calling F to ask him to call the taxi company for me when it finally arrived. It’s a good thing that I have a little built-in cushion with the time.

Work was good, classes were fine and that’s that. I got back to the house here around 5 pm. K was up, but she didn’t seem to acknowledge that I was back. I didn’t go in and say hi or anything, we bumped into each other in the hall.

I went upstairs, changed back into my regular house clothes and relaxed for a while. I watched the PBS news from an hour earlier too.

F called to say he was on his way, so I went downstairs. I think he arrived just as I got downstairs. Either way, he didn’t say hello to me so I was a little sad about that.

Tonight I was planning to use my air fryer and make French fries, but my avocados were ripe, so I decided to make guacamole and have tortilla chips and salsa with them instead. The main dish was a scrambled-eggs-and-shrimp dish, so I was quite busy. The avocados were perfect, maybe the best I’ve had in ages. I used a spice packet to make the guacamole and then put the mix in the fridge for a while.

I got the eggs cracked, beaten and a few ingredients mixed in for good measure. The shrimp were defrosted and dried, I followed the recipe and had very nice scrambled eggs afterwards. I called F down and he finally came. So, tonight’s dinner was scrambled eggs and shrimp, salad and tortilla chips and guacamole and salsa. It was quite popular and most of the guac was eaten. There’s a little bit left.

I did the dishes which didn’t seem too bad tonight because there was only one pan and a few bowls and plates. It still took a while, but I got through them.

I went upstairs and suggested to F that we go to the grocery store soon. We went over to MaxValu and I did some shopping. I saw a packet for a mushroom chowder so we decided to have that on Thursday for dinner. We got the ingredients, mostly! Tomorrow night I’m planning to do fries and also have burgers with them, not the ones in a bun, sad to say, but the Japanese-style ones. They’re okay really. I bought them premade, I just have to heat them up.

The grocery store was weird tonight, and so was F. I would talk to him and he’d just not listen to me. I got quite upset with him at one point and had to walk off.

We got groceries and checked out. Then as we were leaving the parking lot, I remembered that he needed detergent, so we went to the nearby drugstore to get some. We got detergent, some hypoallergenic detergent for me and a couple of other things.

Next up, we hit up a convenience store on our way back here. F had a bill to pay and I grabbed a salad for my lunch. For some reason, the grocery store had almost no salads left. So weird.

We came back to the house and dropped the groceries into the house. Then we got busy in the garage. I noticed a few weeks ago that there were bags of cans and bottles in the garage to go out for gomi day, but I didn’t put them there. F said he didn’t either, so that leaves K. Tomorrow is the cans and bottles day, it only comes every other week, so we sorted through some of the bags and made up two or three bags to go out. I often put the garbage bags in the genkan for F to take out on his way to work in the morning…was K taking them to the garage first to save him from the work? We have no idea. Anyway, he took them out to the gomi station tonight….technically a no-no, but everyone in our area does it! It’s a box that animals can’t get into so it isn’t as bad as in some areas.

I came into the house and grabbed another bag for the garage to put cans in from the car when it happens, and gave F the bag of cans from the kitchen. He took them over too.

I came into the house, washed my hands and then put away the groceries with a bit of “help” from F. Naw, he was fine really.

We came upstairs and my 11pm drama had already started so I watched it off the DVR and thought that they were jumping the shark with the goings-on tonight.

I spent some time doing my blogging and checking things online but decided to try and get things done without watching YouTube. It has gone faster and I’m writing more. Is that a good thing?

And, because you got through all of that, here’s the Advent Calendar update for today. Can you see the newest building?  Remember, you can click on the pictures to see them bigger.

December 7th's update. The village is beginning to take shape.

Not sure what I’ll get up to tomorrow. Hopefully, it’ll be good. Come back later if you like and hear all about my day! Until tomorrow….
