Tuesday - Cold and windy again
I managed to get to bed at an almost reasonable time last night, so was able to wake up when my alarm went off. I got up and after a trip downstairs was able to watch the news in the morning. Yay, there was news on today.
I got up around 10:30 when F sent me a text. I answered him and then got up. I filled up the kerosene tank because there wasn’t enough in the tank to last through the afternoon, in my opinion.
A little later I had my lunch and then went upstairs. I ate while watching some videos on YouTube. I got dressed and set up the room for my classes. It was rather nice and stress-free not to have F around this week. Classes went well and I found out that I’ll be online for at least the next two weeks. Oh well.
After classes, I put away all the extra stuff in the bedroom. I had a cup of coffee for the first time in a couple of days and then spent some time on my computer having fun and also watching the news. F called a bit after 5 and I asked him to bring back some shabu-shabu sauce and a bag or two of shredded cabbage from the store.
I went down after a bit to start dinner. I washed my dishes and then got started working on some vegetables that I wanted to roast in my air fryer. I cut up some potatoes, and an onion and then soaked the potatoes. After I dried them, I put them and the onions into the air fryer. Then, I chopped up some mushrooms which I added to the air fryer a few minutes later.
F came back a few minutes later and didn’t have any cabbage! He said that he couldn’t find any and to be honest, I believe him! Recently I haven’t found a lot of salad in the shops. Luckily, I had half of a cabbage in the fridge. I just wanted to save myself the work of shredding it!
I started up my steamer pot, put some stock cubes in the bottom of it and waited for it to boil. When it did, I put in a layer of the sliced-up cabbage and then put some of the thin pork on top of the cabbage. I put the lid on and waited a few minutes. I took out the cooked pork and put in some more. I did that until it was all cooked. F and I had this dish at a restaurant in Yamagata once upon a time and had always planned to recreate it at the house, but hadn’t until now.
I set the table and called F down. We had a nice feast. We had the steamed shabu-shabu with a couple of sauces that F had bought, then, the steamed cabbage that was underneath. We had roasted potatoes, onions and mushrooms and also some very nice little mini-croissants that we picked up on Sunday night. Dinner was unexpectedly amazing and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
I did the dishes up afterwards which did take a while. I listened to my podcasts and enjoyed the time downstairs. I let F know when I was finished and that I was going upstairs.
I got upstairs and it was freezing up here. I’d had the temperature up to twenty degrees before I had gone downstairs, now it was 8 degrees. That’s pretty cold. I got the heater going and relaxed for a bit.
F came upstairs and we had a quiet evening together. I watched Clarice at 11 and then some music videos when it was over. I turned off the TV soon after though.
It was a pretty decent day. I didn’t go outside at all today, although I did open the front door!
Tomorrow is a national holiday. I’m hoping to go to a movie, but F has a bunch of things that he needs to do tomorrow and I’m not sure if there’ll be time. I hope so! I’m going through withdrawal.
In any case, please come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
