Monday - Cooler with a bit of rain and cloud
I woke up before F’s alarm went off this morning and made a trip downstairs. When I came back to the room, F had the lights on and was getting dressed. I went back to bed and slept longer. I woke up when my alarm went off, but I couldn’t find my phone. When I’d come back from downstairs, I’d left my phone in my pocket! Oh, dear. I had to get up to turn off my alarm! I ended up sleeping through most of my alarms and didn’t wake up until quite a bit longer. Oops.
I went downstairs and grabbed my breakfast. I also saw K and pointed out the sandwich that I bought her for her breakfast. She took it and scarpered.
I went upstairs and ate my breakfast. After breakfast, I sent off a big email to my former company. I sent files and scans and tried to leave things in good order for the next teacher.
I had my lunch and watched a show from the weekend that I had recorded. I had a pretty good, quiet day really.
F called around 5:30 to say that he wasn’t coming back yet. He was going off to Sakata to check the area that he has to go to tomorrow. He didn’t know when he’d be back but didn’t think he’d be too late.
I went downstairs and got started in the kitchen. I washed dishes and did a bit of a clean-up, then I started working on dinner. I was making hamburgers from scratch today. I used a spice packet for them and it recommended cooking the onions that I put in the burgers first. I’ve never done that before, but okay. I gave it a try. I fried onions while I washed dishes. I waited for F and waited some more. He called to say that he wasn’t done yet and would be back later. I texted him later to see if he was coming back and he wrote back that he’d be back around 8. Wow. I decided to start cooking.
I made hamburgers, one for each of us, did some french fries in the air fryer, we had salad and some soup risotto with dinner too. Oh, and broccoli. I had some frozen broccoli in the freezer so put that out too. We even had dessert tonight. It was a tiramisu mousse cake from a store. It was okay. K had hers eaten before I had even sat down. I thought that was a little rude, but different cultures have different standards after all.
I did the dishes afterwards and since I didn’t start until 9:00pm almost, it was around 10:00pm when I finished. Sigh.
When I went upstairs I had a few minutes before the last episode of The Bold Type. I know, I thought it finished 2 weeks ago, but it didn’t. Tonight it did! It was okay. I’ll miss it. It wasn’t great TV but it was fun and light and they did handle quite a few serious topics over the years.
And that’s about it for my day really. I tried to contact a friend of mine who lives in Yamagata to see if she’d like to get together in a couple of weeks, but I haven’t heard back yet. Hopefully later…
My arm is less painful today but I am getting higher temperatures in the evening. It’s quite surprising really. I haven’t had as bad a reaction as some of my friends have, I’m not complaining though!
