Tuesday - Warmish and sunny

Today was a pretty good day. Hurray for that!

I woke up fairly early, made a run downstairs and then went back to bed. F told me that he was going to go and have a massage at 10:30. He offered to run me downtown if I wanted first, but I said no. I wanted to go back to sleep!

I slept for another couple of hours and then got up. F came back after 11:30 and he made brunch for his mother. After that, we talked about where to go for lunch. Yesterday I suggested going to a nearby restaurant as they were having an all-you-can-eat event. F suggested that today, so we went.

We were able to go into the restaurant right away. We were seated and ordered right away. I got F’s buffet food for him and then my own. It was rather funny as I asked him what drink he would like and he kept mentioning drinks that they didn’t have! He wanted sodas, they had juices, teas and coffees! I had pepperoncino as my first pasta, he had bolognese. We shared a second order of carbonara that was only okay.

After lunch, we went for a drive. Earlier, F had asked about going to see the tulips, but I was worried that it would be too much for him. He was going to drive us to the beach, but then I reminded him about the tulips.  We went up to Ikoinomura and walked over to the tulips. We even bumped into F’s niece and her family, so that was nice. She even took pictures of us for us. Even nicer!

We walked all around the flowers. I was worried about F’s knee, but he said he was okay. He didn’t sit when there was a chance either. Sigh.

We left and got in the car. F of course went the wrong way and he kept on going. We went past buildings that were obviously private and then started off down a dirt road through trees. I kept asking him to turn back. Finally, he seemed to understand what I said that if we got stuck in the mud somewhere I wasn’t going to push him out! He had to back up quite a bit before he could turn the car, but I have no idea what the point of that little excursion was. I had also mentioned to him that I needed a washroom so I was doubly annoyed with him.

We ended up next at the beach. He parked and then wanted to go down to the shore. I told him that I wasn’t going to walk down there, so we sat and looked at the ocean and breathed in the sea air. After a bit, we got back in the car and I suggested going to the little cafe/souvenir shop along the road for some ice cream. He agreed.

We did go there and I bought us some gelato. It was very nice, but also very expensive for what we got. It cost 500 yen for two flavours in a small cup. We both had coffee and F had dadacha-mame (local edamame) and I had vanilla. They were all nice flavours.

It was a bit after 4 pm so I started to ask about dinner. I still wasn’t hungry, but K might be. F suggested getting in bentos from his new favourite place so I said it was okay. It was too early for that though.

We came back to the house for a while and relaxed. Around 6:30 F started to call the bento place, but they didn’t answer. Oops. They were either too busy or they were closed for the holiday.

I suggested a couple of restaurants that K likes, either the Chinese place in Kushibiki or the keiten Sushi place. F picked the latter, so he made a reservation on their online system. The earliest we could get in was 7:50. Wow.  Still, it is Golden Week, so that wasn’t too bad.

Around 7:30 we piled in the car and drove there. We still had to wait a while as it was busy, but probably were seated within 15 minutes or so.

The sushi seemed fairly decent today and we also ordered some fries and onion rings. K loves those!  So do I!  I also ordered us two broccoli salads because K devours the whole lot, while F and I will share one. Anyway, dinner was quite good. F won a prize at the beginning of the meal but none of us won again.

We came back to the house after dinner. F said he’d go out again, but I didn’t really want to go. I put on my pyjamas. Around 10:30 I went down to take a shower and then came back to the room and watched my FBI show.

F has spent some of the evening saying that his knees really hurt. I am glad that I didn’t let him walk down to the shoreline. I think walking on sand would have been very difficult for him and using crutches on sand might not be easy either. I think he tried to do too much today. I did worry about him, but he doesn’t want to admit that he can’t do the things he wants to do.

Anyway, that was my day today. It was a nice one. I’m not sure what we’ll do tomorrow. We might go and see Doctor Strange because it opens tomorrow or we might do something else. We really should do our bedding, but it might depend on the weather.

Come back later if you like and hear all about my Wednesday. Until tomorrow….
