Friday - Warm but humid, some rain

Last night, I had written on my blog that Her Majesty was ill and I hoped that she would continue her reign for longer.  I posted my entry and then checked the internet for the latest Royal news. I saw the sad news. I let out a big gasp and read the different obituaries and news items. I cried a few tears before I went to bed.

I woke up before my alarm this morning. I’m not sure why I woke up just then, but I did. It was fine really. I watched the news which was a lot about the death of Queen Elizabeth.  I did take a bit of a snooze too but got up earlier than usual. I dressed, sorted my laundry, and then did laundry!  I did three loads today, I have laundry everywhere!

I grabbed breakfast, and later in the day, lunch.  I had to finish early today as I joined a Zoom meeting with other Tohoku ladies in my women’s group. It was fun. There were more people there than I expected. For about an hour and a half, we chatted about our lives and what was happening in the world around us.

I watched the news, or what was left of it when the meeting ended, and then F called. He reminded me that he needed to finish eating before 8 pm and I reminded him that I was making pasta tonight so it shouldn’t be a problem!

He came towards the house and I went downstairs and started working on dinner. Last night, I had taken the easy way out of dinner prep by buying some pre-sliced cooked chicken, so I plated it and opened up a can of tuna and drained that too. I boiled the pasta, washed the lettuce and I had the dinner on the table by 6:35, which is much earlier than usual. F came down at a reasonable time too. I used a really nice pasta sauce (wasabi & mayo), which was great.  Dinner got good reviews. The salad I washed disappeared, there was only a little pasta left at the end. I put it aside for later.

I did the dishes and then came upstairs. I watched a couple of things off the Fire Stick and then I turned off the TV. F beat me to the shower, so he went first. I went downstairs after him and took my shower.

And that’s about it. It has been a quiet evening here, which is nice. F got a bit chatty earlier while I was watching YouTube. I find it a little funny that during dinner when I want to chat, he’s listening/watching TikTok, but when I want to relax, he won’t stop talking.

Queen Elizabeth has been a constant in my life and with the strange upheaval of the last few years, it seems that her death has really ended one era. I am a bit worried about what the next era will bring. I realize that my readers may not care about her death, but as a Canadian who has always respected her, I am very sad.

Tomorrow is going to be busy, so I’ll end this now. Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….

Queen Elizabeth was an amazing woman and deserves our respect. I have shed a few tears reading the articles written about her in recent days. I will never forget the regard she had for President Obama and the then First Lady Michelle Obama. She was a class act always. We won't see the likes of her again, at least not in my lifetime. I'm sorry she's gone.

Thank you!

She didn't suffer fools gladly so I think she was pleased to have visitors like the Obamas with brains and manners and compassion. She had to be nice to so many politicians who had none of the features I mentioned!

I'm sorry she's gone too.

Here in Australia Queen Elizabeth has always been a big part of our lives too. I am really sad she has passed, it seemed quite sudden. The Queen was a very strong and determined woman and I respect her very much for the life she lived. I understand what you say about the end of an era, I feel with QE's passing that the world is even more uncertain. 💔

Thanks Kelly.

She was amazing really.

It did seem so fast. She met with Britain's new PM and then two days later she's gone.

She always seemed like a calm and steady presence in this topsy-turvy world.
