Monday - Snowy and cold
I woke up this morning just before my alarm went off. I went downstairs, came back upstairs, and went back to bed. I watched a few videos on my phone, but I fell asleep while watching them.
I dragged myself out of bed a lot later, dressed and went downstairs. I went outside and shovelled a bit of snow. I cleared off the steps and the pathway. I wasn’t in time for the mail guy though. He dropped off a couple of cards for me this morning.
I went back into the house and put my breakfast together. I also put tonight’s meat into a marinade and stuck it back in the fridge. I took my breakfast upstairs and ate after a while. I noticed that one of my favourite movies was playing on NHK today, so of course I had to watch it. It was August Rush. I know it is a bit schmaltzy, but I love it! It gets me every time!
When it was over, I went downstairs and put my lunch together. I had the leftover pasta from Friday and it was really good! I didn’t watch anything on the TV as I had watched the movie.
A bit after 5, F called to say he was on the way back. He would stop at the bakery to pick up the cake that he had ordered. I eventually went downstairs. It was quite the production. I had clean towels for downstairs, my dishes for the day and the empty tank for the kerosene heater. Sigh. I made it, but it wasn’t easy!
F came back just about the same time as I got downstairs. I filled up the kerosene tank and asked him to carry it upstairs for me, which he did. I got busy with dinner.
Tonight I made coro-coro steak with bibinba rice, salad and spaghetti salad. It was quite a popular meal. I made a plate for K for tomorrow too. After we had our main course I got the cake out and F cut it. It was quite the production. It was a Japanese-style Christmas cake, chocolate. It was nice, but a little bland in my opinion. We have half of the cake left so we can have some for dessert tomorrow night too.
I did the dishes and it did take a while. It got done though. I enjoyed about 3 podcasts while I was working. When I finished, I put the plastic garbage in the genkan for F to take out in the morning and went upstairs. I relaxed for a while.
F came up and a few minutes later I went downstairs to take my shower. When I came back upstairs afterwards, F was asleep with the lights on. I turned off the lights and went through to my computer desk. I decided to watch something tonight and put on The Great British Sewing Bee. It was good and quite interesting. For the most part, they were making coats and jackets. It looked really difficult.
I turned off the TV and after midnight I put on some YouTube videos and started my blogging thing. And that’s about it.
Tomorrow I have to plan my Christmas dinner a bit more. I’ve bought many of the ingredients, but I need to decide how to put everything together. I will probably have to shovel snow again and I will go out and grab some last-minute groceries tomorrow night.
