Saturday - Sunny and rainy!
F got up early and took his mother off to her Day Service and I slept on. I woke up a bit later and went downstairs. I met F in the living room and he asked about lunch. It wasn’t even 11am yet! I said I wasn’t sure and came upstairs to get dressed.
A little while later, F came up and asked again about lunch. He suggested going to Fudo, a good soba and tempura restaurant. He suggested going there yesterday, but we ended up going to the fish restaurant instead. I decided to let him go there today too!
We were able to get in and got a couple of seats at a big table. We ordered some soba to dip and also an order of tempura to share. The food was good, but I was still a bit hungry afterwards.
We ran a few errands after lunch. We started at the car dealership where F had his oil changed in the car. We were invited into the store and were given a drink while we waited. That was nice.
After the car was done F paid and we were off. We went to the gas station to fill up the car and buy some kerosene. We brought it back to the house and put it away.
I went upstairs and relaxed for a while and watched some YouTube. K came back and F made her dinner. He’s a good son!
Around 6 pm we were able to go out. We had a discussion about dinner and decided to go to Coco Ichibanya. We went in and got a table. I noticed that soup curry was on the menu again, so I had to have that! I haven’t had it in a couple of years. As often happens there, the curry wasn’t hot enough, temperature-wise. The spice level was just fine, but for some reason, it wasn’t hot enough. F had a chicken cutlet curry and he said it was good. We both had lassi to drink and that was good.
We went off to the movie theatre in Tsuruoka next. We drove in but we were about 20 minutes early, so we left the parking lot and drove to the nearby grocery store. F went in by himself and came out with some adult beverage later!
We went to see a film called The Novice tonight. It was an odd one, it was about a young woman at university who became obsessed with rowing. She joined the rowing club and tried to get into a higher group within the club. It was not a fun movie, although I was never bored. I’ve read reviews that compared it to Whiplash or Black Swan. I didn’t really understand the character, but the film was interesting.
After the movie, F was all set to go back to the house. I told him I was hungry so we ended up going to MaxValu to pick up a bit of food. I got myself some chicken, and he got himself some stuff for K’s breakfast and a snack for tonight.
We came back to the house and came inside. I put away F’s stuff and then I heated up my chicken and brought it upstairs. I had a bit of a feast as I had it with some bread and F gave me some stewed daikon that was nice.
I watched FBI at 11 pm and then I turned off the TV. F and I chatted at times, but I think I am in need of a little F-free time. He’s been around a lot in the last few weeks and I’m not getting personal things done that I need to do!
Anyway, that’s it for me for today. No idea what we’ll get up to on Sunday. Come back later and find out. Until tomorrow….
