Sunday - Clear, warm & sunny
I woke up this morning and the room was so bright and sunny I thought the lights were on. They weren’t! I snoozed a little longer then went downstairs. I came back upstairs and snoozed again. I finally dragged myself out of bed and got dressed.
F came into the room and started talking about lunch. I suggested going over to the bus depot and having the Pair Set at Hirata-Boku-jo. F was surprisingly up for it, so that’s what we did. We paid our money, got our ticket and turned it in, then found a seat. When our food arrived it was very nice and we enjoyed it a lot. We got some Ton-jiru which is a pork soup with a lot of vegetables, pork and tofu. We also had some rice with some smokey pork on top of it. It came with a tiny salad and some pickles. I really enjoyed it and it was just at budget point.
We did a lot this afternoon! But first, we went back to the house for a few minutes. F was worried that he left something on the stove and didn’t turn the burner off. He didn’t!
We left the house a few minutes later and then went to the Chido Museum. We saw an exhibition about a fight for democracy in this area. I hadn’t heard about it before and to be honest, it didn’t mean that much to me as it was all in Japanese, ancient Japanese at that.
We checked out the garden afterwards and it looked beautiful. I was also surprised to see a heron in a tree. It left as we were leaving too.
From the museum, we went to S-Mall and had drinks at Doutor. F had a coffee and I had a rooibos tea. I have the feeling that they didn’t really give me rooibos though as the tea tasted very tannin forward and rooibos doesn’t usually taste like that to me. After we finished our drinks and F was still happy to sit there longer, I treated myself to a cocoa from Doutor. Oh, wow! That was so chocolately and delicious.
F thought of something he wanted to do halfway through my cup and I asked him if he’d like to go and leave me there. He seemed a little taken back that I didn’t want to leave just then. I explained that I hadn’t drunk all of my cocoa yet! He nicely waited a few minutes for me.
We went over to Musashi, the hardware store and he bought some wood. I sit on a regular chair on the tatami mats and over the years the tatami has broken under my chair. I did tell F that it was happening but for years he didn’t do anything. My new chair is having problems with the holes in the floor and I find it hard to sit and even move my chair as the holes keep attracting the feet of the chair. Anyway, he has bought some boards to cover the floor. I hope he follows through with it though.
We brought the boards back to the house via a nice bento shop to get K something to eat. It was after 7 pm and a bit late for her. She hadn’t eaten since breakfast. F got her something nice and she was quite pleased when he gave it to her.
We took the boards out of the car and then went for our dinner. F picked his favourite fish place and I was okay with that. However, it wasn’t open. Oh dear. I had told him earlier that I was in a curry mood, and offered to go to a gyudon shop to have some there. We ended up going to one and I had their new curried chicken hotpot. It was really good. F had a basic gyudon and he enjoyed his too.
After our dinner we went to the grocery store and bought our groceries. F came in the store with me and to be honest, I wish he wouldn’t. He isn’t helpful at all and when I ask him what he’d like to eat he has no idea. However, when we left the store and there was so much ice, he actually took my arm and helped me walk back to the car. My hero!
We went to a drugstore next and picked up a few things. I got some stuff for me and F got some detergent for his clothes. We paid and came back to the car and drove back to the house.
At the house I put the groceries away and then went upstairs. We had a quiet evening in. I decided to watch a movie from the Fire Disk and decided on a St. Trinians movie. It wasn’t one of the originals, but it was one with Rupert Everett and Colin Firth. It was very silly and I probably wouldn’t watch it again! I watched a few St. Trinian movies when I was younger, and I think I might have even read a few of the books.
That was about it for my day. It was a busy one, but a good one. F is back to work tomorrow and was talking about taking more time off this week, but the day he wanted off he can’t take. I also talked to him and told him that he’s taken off 2 and a half days already this month and he may need some of it later on. I don’t think he liked me saying it, but it is true!
Anyway, tomorrow I need to do a tidy up here if I can and I’d like to get a few other things done. I have to do a cull of my women’s group. I could be busy.
And that’s it for me. Come back later if you like. Until tomorrow….
