Wednesday - Sunny and warmish, some rain at night
Well, today was a different sort of day! It was a good one though. F took the day off work and told me before he went to bed that he was going to sleep late this morning. He did too! However, he’d set his alarm this morning and it woke him up first, then me!
I went downstairs, came back and went to sleep again. I slept later than F did. I got up eventually and went downstairs. F was working on the boards for my side of the room. I made my breakfast, came upstairs to eat it.
Soon after, F asked me if I’d like to go for lunch and I said yes. Today, I picked the place, and I picked Cocos. The reason? I like their lunch menu and I almost never get to have it! F wasn’t too happy, but we went there and got a table.
I had their chicken and nut salad which was very nice and F had a burger with shrimp and an egg. He said it was okay. We also had the drink bar which ended with us both having some very nice decaf coffee.
After lunch, we came back to the house and F got very busy. He did a lot of hammering, sawing and such. Finally, he finished and put the boards down where I sit. He covered the holes in the tatami and made it look quite nice. He worked very hard!
We did have to make a trip out to get different screws for F, but didn’t stay out long. He finished the boards.
Later on, we went out to get stuff from the hundred yen shop and then get our groceries. We went to Daiso and….I didn’t buy anything! Unbelievable but true. F bought some chair leg covers to protect the boards from my chair. After that, we went to the grocery store.
I got groceries for the next couple of days, including lunch for K and breakfasts for F and K. Tomorrow I’ll be doing chicken and Friday it’ll be pasta again, probably with duck.
We also bought some kerosene for the house and then came back to the house. At the house I put the groceries away while F put away the kerosene.
I went upstairs to change and then I came back downstairs and heated up the bentos we bought at the store. Yup, tonight we did bentos. It’s cheaper than going out to a restaurant and faster than cooking ourselves. I didn’t feel like cooking since it was a holiday for F.
I did do the dishes afterwards and went upstairs. While doing the dishes I noticed that the hot water wasn’t that hot. It seems to me that this is a perennial problem here. Sigh.
Upstairs I relaxed for a bit, had a cup of cocoa and then went downstairs to take a shower. I did have to turn the taps up a lot higher than I usually do, but I did have enough warm water for my shower.
I came upstairs and watched an episode of The Devil’s Hour. It was a really good one with lots of things happening.
F is sleeping on the bed but he hasn’t put on his pyjamas yet. When I’m ready to go to bed I’m going to have to wake him up to get him to go to bed.
Tomorrow, I’m not sure what I’ll get up to. I’ll have to cook dinner again and try to keep myself busy during the day.
