Sunday - Cloudy and muggy, then rainy at night
Looks like the rainy season finally arrived. The temperatures are a little lower tonight, but the humidity is high as usual.
Today was an okay but odd day. I slept in quite late for me, went downstairs and then came back to bed. F came in a bit late and hadn’t made his mother any brunch yet so that was odd. He went down and cooked something for her.
I eventually got up and when F was finished he came upstairs again. We talked about lunch and he didn’t really need anything, but would probably eat a bit. I suggested a new place for us, I just found out that there is an Indonesian place in Foodever now so thought we could go. Well, we tried. We went there but there was a sign up that said they were only open in the evening tonight. My usual place in Foodever was closed at the moment and I didn’t want any soba. No offence meant to the soba place, I know they are good, but I didn’t want noodles then.
I suggested going to Arpeggio and that’s what we did. They did have the “full” sign up on the door, but when F asked we were able to go in and wait for a good table. It wasn’t long. Today I had the chicken tender set and F had my old usual, the ground pork on rice set. He complained about his, said it was too salty. He’s been complaining about things being too salty for a couple of days now. Mine was great and I enjoyed it.
We ran a couple of errands next. F needed money so he hit up an ATM, then we went to a drugstore and then Gyomu Supa. I got a few necessities there like potato salad, jarred garlic and some frozen veggies. We left and then came back to the house. I wasn’t feeling well at all. I was quite off schedule with my cold meds and I was just feeling quite horrible.
After I put away the food we had bought, I went upstairs, changed my clothes and turned on the AC. Then I spent some time on the bed. I didn’t snooze much for a while, but I probably got a couple of naps in.
F came upstairs and he said he was tired. He napped a bit too, then made his mother dinner. He came back upstairs, but wasn’t ready to go out for our dinner, so we waited until 8:00pm.
We went to Gusto for dinner. I had a hamburger patty with some veggies, a bun and the drink bar, F had the mixed grill with rice and drink bar. We shared a plate of fries and they were very nice!
After our dinner we had to do the grocery shopping but dinner went so late that we couldn’t go to the regular shops. We went to MaxValu and I went in to do the shopping. I got quite a few things that we needed and very little that we didn’t! I didn’t buy any cucumbers today as I didn’t like the ones they had. I got a zucchini though. I put it in a bag before I put it in my cart.
When I checked out, I had to use the self-check out. I put it in English as I always do, and ran things through. Most things were fine and went on the bill without problems. When I got to the zucchini though, I did a look for the vegetables on the bit without a price tag. No zucchini. I checked again. Still none. The store clerk came over to help me and I jumped because I didn’t see her there. She very nicely took the zucchini from me and peeled back the bag…to show me the bar code on the price tag on the zucchini! Ack! I thanked her and just laughed. I mean…I wouldn’t have thought you would put a price tag directly on a food that people are going to eat the skin of, know what I mean?
I finished up, paid and then headed out to the car. The groceries were heavy tonight. I’d bought a couple of cartons of liquids, plus a bag of cereal for me. Heavy things.
Back in the car, I gave F his change and then we came back to the house. I asked F to make rice for tomorrow and he says that he did. He spent some time ironing his uniform and I came upstairs and watched Murderbot on AppleTV+. I am quite enjoying that show. The space soap opera that he watches is hilarious, but sadly there wasn’t any on tonight’s episode.
And that’s about it for my day. F is back to work tomorrow, although he has Wednesday off to go back and see the surgeon that did his knee operation two years ago.
I’m not sure what I’m going to get up to besides cooking dinner. I might do some laundry, but probably not! Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
