Tuesday - Hot and Sunny

I woke up this morning because I was cold. F had turned on the AC when he left and by the time I woke up, it was cool in our room.  I got up and then I went downstairs. I came back to the room, sorted my laundry and then went back to bed for a snooze.

I got up later, dressed and went downstairs to make my breakfast. When I did that, I remembered that I needed to marinate tonight’s dinner, so I did that too. I mixed up some garlic powder, salt and pepper and olive oil, then added the meat and left it in the fridge to marinate.

I also started the first of two loads of laundry. I made the discovery that someone had washed a tissue with the last load. I had to clean out the washing machine. It wasn’t too bad as the lint filter caught most of it, but it did need a bit of work.

Apart from laundry, I had mostly a quiet afternoon. I didn’t work on my column at all. Sigh. I think I might watch a bit of a movie tomorrow if I have time.

I got my lunch around 3pm and it was too late when I came back to the room to watch anything. Instead, I got Alexa to put on some music. Alexa was a bit stupid. Of course, she wanted me to join the music thingy, but I didn’t. I asked for Canadian music but I don’t think they know what that is. I got K-Pop, Bollywood style songs and things that weren’t Canadian at all. I liked Bob Seger, but he’s not Canadian! Then, when it was time to shut down, Alexa wouldn’t stop the music! ACK!

I watched the news and then a bit after 5 F called to say he was on the way back. I went downstairs a bit later and got ready to cook dinner.

Tonight I did coro-coro steak with salad, cucumber pickle, and rice. F added on something else from the fridge for himself later on.

Dinner was good and I enjoyed it. I think F and K did too! After we finished, I cleared the table and started doing the dishes. I listened to my podcasts and then washed and dried the dishes.

I let F know that I was going upstairs to change. We needed to go out and get some groceries. By the time I got upstairs, F was there, lying on the bed. It annoyed me a little! I probably shouldn’t get annoyed, but I’ve been on my feet for the last couple of hours and just finished the dishes in a hot kitchen. I would love a break too but I have to go grocery shopping instead. Sigh.

Still, I got changed and we went out to the grocery store. F stayed in the car and I went around and got some food for the next couple of days. I’m hoping that it’ll go well!

After a little while at the house, I watched FBI: International. It was okay, but the story had a Japanese twist and the head guy is off to Tokyo next. I have a bit of an eye roll about that, but whatever!

That’s about it for me for today. Since midnight I’ve been blogging and doing my end of day things. I’m not sure what I’m going to do tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be working on my column somehow! I might do some writing or some watching. Wish me luck!

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….

Just a quick questions, Why do you grocery shop several times a week? Wouldn't get be easier to just buy a weeks worth of dinners? My son and dil live in Japan, but only shop once weekly. I live in US and only go once a week or bi weekly. Is storage the reason? Try to stay cool, fall is coming!

Hi! Great question. Yes, storage is a big thing and we only have a small freezer in our fridge. I've requested a free-standing freezer but F hasn't seen the point of it. Japanese people often go grocery shopping every day to get fresh food. I can't be bothered with that in all honesty, so we go every other day during the work week. My husband calls me every night to say he's on the way back from work and should he buy anything for us! Sometimes it's a pain, but when I have forgotten an ingredient, it is quite helpful.

I'd prefer to shop less, but I'd also prefer to cook less.
