Sunday - Hot and muggy, cloudy

Today wasn’t a great day, sad to say. I woke up around 9:30 this morning and the room was hot. It was over 29 degrees this morning. I got up, turned on the AC and then slept a little longer.

When I got up next time I got dressed and then spent some time on my computer. F came upstairs and we talked about going out for lunch. I suggested that we go to the Daiichi Hotel as their lunch special today sounded very nice. F was okay with that. We drove over there and went in. We found a table and ordered the special. It was very nice. We got a lovely salad, then some chicken with lemon and butter sauce, bread or rice, and coffee or tea. We both had iced version of two drinks. I have a card from the hotel chain so we got a discount for our meals so it was quite reasonable too. The restaurant is nice, the wifi is good, but today the service was a little lacking. Our water was never refilled, usually that is done automatically. It’s the middle of summer! When we were ready to leave, F gave me the money and I paid to get the discount. Woot.

We decided to go and get groceries next. F came in with me. It was okay but in a way it does annoy me. He isn’t very helpful and when I ask him if he’d like this or that he doesn’t care. I mean, why not?

I got most of the things I needed and then we left and came back to the house. I put some of the food away, F hid some of it from his mother and I took some stuff upstairs too.

I spent the next couple of hours upstairs. The room was now up to 33 degrees. Urgh. I cooled it down and stripped off my outside layer of clothing. It was too darn hot. I drank some tea and tried to relax. Around 4 F came upstairs and asked if I was ready to go. I wasn’t sure to be honest. We were supposed to be going to the Aquarium to see a concert. I said I wasn’t sure about going so F got all huffy and said he’d go without me. He stormed out of the room. Okay then.

I got re-dressed and went downstairs. He was in the washroom, so I spent a few minutes combing my hair and then making a jug of mugi-cha for tomorrow. F and his mother had drunk most of the other one, but hadn’t thought to make a new one. Sigh. Oh well.

We got in the car and drove off. F was pretty grumpy at first but then asked if I’d like a drink. He stopped at the grocery store and bought drinks at the machine there. While he was out of the car, I looked for my membership card for the Aquarium. I couldn’t find it. Oh no! I told F that I couldn’t find my card and we decided that we’d talk to the Aquarium staff about it. He’s lost his card a couple of times so can’t stay much about it.

When we got to the Aquarium, F parked the car and we went in. The ticket box at the door was closed so we lined up inside to show our cards. One of the ladies saw me and asked if I’d lost my card!  F said yes and she went over to the ticket box and went in. They had my card! It must have fallen out of my pocket when I was inside the Aquarium last time. Whew! I was happy to have it back.

F and I walked through the Aquarium. It was closed officially but people going to the concert could go in and see the fish and the jellyfish. It was lovely to be able to see the beasties without worrying about taking too long for the people behind us. We finally got to the end of the tanks and there was a line up for the concert. We tagged teamed going to the washroom and then when F came back, we talked about where we’d try to sit. I suggested going to the right and sitting near the steps. That is where we were able to sit.

This was a beauty. It wasn't smooth though.

I think this looks a bit like an eringi mushroom!

Close up on the tentacles. I think it looks like crochet...or white kale!

Flaming marshmallows?

We waited for a while and the concert started. It was two ladies, a piano player and a trumpet player. They played jazz, but I didn’t enjoy it at all. I’m sorry. I thought they were jangly. The one piece of music that I did enjoy was when the director of the Aquarium joined them and played the bass. That was good. My back was sore as there was nothing to lean on and my neck was painful. Because F and I were a bit on edge with each other today, stress has given me a painful neck. It happens fairly often.

After the concert we used the washrooms and then went out to the car. We talked about where to have dinner. I suggested Gusto and F was okay with that. I also asked if we could go to Yamaya before we went for dinner. I wanted to buy some teabags. We arrived at Yamaya and went in. I got my teabags and F picked up an adult beverage for himself. We went back to the car and crossed the street and went to Gusto!

We had an okay meal tonight. F had the cheese in hamburg because we had a coupon. I had the mixed grill and we shared an order of fries. They were okay. We had the drink bar too.

We left the restaurant and came back to the house. F stayed downstairs to set up the rice cooker and then came upstairs.

It was hot again in our room so I changed into my pyjamas. I turned on the air conditioner. I never did turn on the TV tonight so I’ll have to try and watch something tomorrow.

F is asleep and I should really go to bed now too. Tomorrow I need to work on my column and I’m going to be back to cooking dinner etc.

I’m glad that the weekend is over. I am so tired of the hot weather. It is making everyone a bit cranky and I am dreaming about cooler weather!

Come back later if you like and hear all about my Monday. Until tomorrow….
