Monday - Rainy and thundery in the morning, clearing a bit later on
Today was the weirdest day for the first part of it.
F had basically decided last night if he felt bad today that he would take today off work. No point in passing on a bad cold to others really. I woke up and went downstairs around 7:30 and then went back to bed. Sometime later F talked to me while I was snoozing and said something that sounded like I had to go to the doctor’s office with him and take a Covid test. Huh? I ignored him as much as possible and tried to sleep on.
I dragged myself out of bed around 11 and asked F to explain what he was talking about. He had to call the doctor’s office or something and ask for a Covid test. I didn’t (and still don’t) understand why _I_ had to go too.
Then, I sorted out my laundry and said that I’d put it in the washing machine. F announced that he was doing laundry and not only was he washing his clothes, he was drying it too…that happens in the same machine. He’s done laundry every day this weekend and he knew I planned to do some today. I had to wait.
So, I was very nice and got dressed and left the house with F. We had to wait outside in the car for a nurse to come out and give us the up-the-nose tests. It was horribly painful and I’m not sure I can forgive F for putting me through that. We had to wait about half an hour for the nurse to come out to the car, then another 20 minutes for the test results. Of course they were negative. After that, F was allowed to go in and pay for the tests and get our prescriptions. He threw a big snit fit when I refused to give him my MyNumber card to take with him. He doesn’t see why I might not want him to take it. Hey, I have my reasons.
We went to the pharmacy and got a lot of medicine. We got a repeat of the stuff from Saturday, plus a bunch more.
F asked me where I wanted to go next. I said back to the house but then he asked me if I wanted to go for lunch. Okay, I didn’t mind. I suggested the restaurant in Kushibiki and F liked that idea. We went over there and had a good lunch. I had mapo-dofu on yakisoba, F had the mapo lunch, so he got some ramen too and thought the mapo-dofu was too spicy for him.
We finished and came back to the house. I came upstairs and rested in front of my computer. After F cleared his clothes out of the washing machine, I took my load downstairs and washed it. As usual, I set a timer so that I could run downstairs and take it out when it was finished so no one else was inconvenienced more than necessary! F came upstairs, but after a while he made his mother dinner.
We discussed our dinner and then decided to go over to Gusto again. As it’s a weekday they have their 3 items or 4 items menu. For a set price you get to pick 3 or 4 options from their menu and build your own meal. F picked the burger with gravy, fried fish on rice, and udon. I picked the same burger, French fries, chicken and kale salad and a small tiramisu for dessert. Both meals come with the drink bar (or alcohol but not for us) and the soup of the day. I think it’s a good deal honestly.
Mine was good, F seemed to like his as well. We left a bit late. I was reading a book and was getting near the end so I didn’t want to leave! We did though.
We made a brief stop at MaxValu. I went in and got a few things for K and F, and in all honesty, for me too. I’m hoping to avoid going to the grocery store again until Wednesday night.
We came back to the house. F set up the rice cooker for tomorrow, I put away the shopping and then went upstairs. I decided to watch another episode of Down Cemetery Road. I’m still enjoying it a lot. I also started a new dishcloth tonight too, this time in blue.
F finally went to bed, but was quite late. I’ve been wanting to get to bed earlier, but it won’t be tonight.
The medicine we got today is working and I’m already feeling better. This has been a miserable cold. I hope that F will be better at work tomorrow. I think he has the cold worse than I do, he has more health problems than I do generally.
That’s it for me. Tomorrow I am thinking about going upstairs in the garage and getting down my Christmas tree and the ornaments. Thinking about it! It’s a palaver to take things down the steep garage steps so I don’t know if I’ll set up the tree tomorrow too or not. I might not.
Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
