June 13, 2008 - Friday

Sunny and warm, but some nasty rain showers too.

A good day. I got up early, believe it or not! I was up, drinking coffee for a while. I watched What About Brian? and thought, as I always do, that I know why one character likes Brian, but not why he likes her! She's kind of annoying. Sigh. After the omnibus (I like that word) I watched a bit of Aliens, but did go and take my shower during it.

I had a quiet afternoon really. I had lunch and then left for my school. My school was a tad cooler today than it was yesterday. It was only 26 degrees inside. Bleck. Today, in an effort to save the polar bears (don't ask) I opened the window for 25 minutes instead of running the air conditioner. It didn't make it much cooler, but it did let some fresh air in.

My first class went okay. The student was in a strange mood. Not a bad one, just more interested in goofing off than studying. I didn't let him goof off. A few minutes after he left, my second student called me and cancelled. Sigh. I finished up my paperwork, and checked my classes for tomorrow. After all of that, I finally called Fumihiko to see if he'd come and get me.

We came home and a few minutes later I started making dinner. What did we have? Well, spicy chicken wings. They came from the store with peppercorns on them, I just had to cook them, steamed broccoli, salad and cold chawanmushi from the store. I steamed the broccoli in Fumihiko's pasta pot and it turned out really well. It was really bright green. So, we had a nice dinner, except Fumihiko watched the news all through it. I told him after that I had dinner with the back of his head. We even had dessert. A couple of weeks ago I'd bought some "sherbe" at the drugstore. All I had to do was freeze the packets, then add some milk in a glass. It was nice. A little like a frappucino.

Fumihiko did the dishes and then we spent a fairly quiet evening at home. I just watched some videos on You Tube that were a little rude, but fun. Then, I watched one that was all about Star Trek Next Generation. It was cute. The singer had named every episode in the series, and made a song about how he wanted more Next Gen. We all did, back then!

That's pretty much it for my day. I think I'll try to get an early night tonight as I have to be up early tomorrow. Wish me luck. Night.

Helen, what do you teach in Japan?

I teach conversational English. English is often taught by translation here, and students don't often know how to say things.

Thanks for the comment, and welcome to blogging!
