Clear and sunny in the daytime, rainy at night.
Today was a pretty good day today. I got up on time, although I really didn't want to and had a leisurely morning around the apartment.
In the early afternoon, I made my youngest niece and nephew a Valentine's card each using a couple of our leftover nengajo. Then, I trundled off to the post office to mail them. I also took one of my nengajo to get my free stamps. I "won" the lottery. I just got stamps, no biggie, but at least I got something useful.
I came home again, and ended up making my lunch. I left for work around five. I did stop at a drugstore today and bought a few things for myself.
My school was toasty warm and nice to work in for a change. I changed and did a couple of things for next week. Yesterday in the hundred yen shop I looked for bags to put some Valentine's Day chocolate in for my students, but they didn't have any cute cheap ones that I liked. So, I bought a bag of 30 white bags and today I took a couple of heart stamps over, and some of my red ink. I stamped a couple of the bags to see how they would do. The paper felt a little waxy so I wasn't sure if the ink would stay on the page. I put the stamped bags aside to dry.
Around 6, my phone rang. My later student wasn't feeling well, so she said she couldn't come. Oh dear.
When my students rang the doorbell I was waiting for them, but only one came! The younger of the two was sick, so she didn't come. It was good in a way, I could make things a little more challenging for the older student, but now I'm worried about the younger one missing out. The two of us had quite a good class and when it was over I talked to the mother for a bit.
I stayed a bit late at the school doing prep for tomorrow. I also checked the bags that I had stamped earlier. Success! They looked cute and the ink didn't budge. Hurray!
I called Fumihiko a bit after 9 and he came to get me. We went to Cocos for dinner. He had a really small meal, I had a big one. I liked mine, but afterwards felt that I shouldn't have eaten so much.
We came home via the grocery store. I'm going to cook tomorrow night as we'll be away on the weekend and I don't think it's a good idea to have so much restaurant food. Our evening was very very quiet, but in a good way. And, Fumihiko had one more surprise for me. He gave me the DVD of KungFu Panda. I'm quite thrilled as I couldn't see it in the local theater because they only showed it in Japanese.
Well that's it for me. My birthday is now officially over, but it was a nice one. Thank you to everyone who left me a message on Facebook or here, it was very much appreciated. Night night!
