April 5, 2009 - Sunday

Clear and sunny, gorgeous day.

Today I got to "sleep in" until 7:15. It was a lot quieter in the hospital last night. They didn't come in and check on Fumihiko so I was able to sleep quite well. Well, except for having to wake up whenever I changed position.

We spent most of the day together and in his room. It was peaceful. I finished reading my Stephanie Plum novel and started on The Constant Princess. This weekend has been very good for my reading list. Around 11:00 am we made a quick trip downstairs for Fumihiko to get some cup ramen and me to get a bento, then we ate lunch together around 12.

In the afternoon, Fumihiko watched a movie and snoozed while I facebooked and read. We played cards too, but just for fun. Just a quiet and relaxing time.

We made another trip downstairs for Fumihiko to get something, and for me to get some clothes out of the car. I have to decide what I'm taking home with me tomorrow, and what I'm going to leave in the car. I think I've decided, but I'm not completely sure.

I took a taxi over to the bookstore where I went yesterday. I didn't go to the bookstore, although I did make a quick stop at the 100 yen shop. After that, I went to a restaurant nearby. It was called Tomato and Onion. I had quite a nice meal. I had chicken with a caesar salad, foccacia and coffee. I had dessert too, tiramisu today. However, it wasn't really tiramisu at all. It was some kind of whipped cream thing with bananas in it. SHUDDER. I wouldn't have ordered it if I'd have known. I walked back from the restaurant. It was dark but I made fairly good time.

Fumihiko and I had a quiet evening in. He's spent most of the time on his cell phone chatting with his buddies (the phone has an email chat system) and I read, facebooked and read news on the internet.

I'll probably take a shower in a moment and then get myself ready for bed. I've got a long and possibly painful trip tomorrow. I can't say I'm really looking forward to it either. Sigh.

Most likely, I'll post all my entries tomorrow night when I get home. It'll be a bit sad to be home without my husband, but also a bit cool too! Detective shows all the time! Chocolate for dinner (just kidding-probably). That's it for me. Got to go. Bye!

I missed out on reading about your hospital adventures as i was in the hospital myself! :(

I find it interesting that they kept moving you from room to room, you would think, being the modern ages that every room would have oxygen? I know in the hospital i was in they have portable oxygen tanks too, which i was on, and took with me when i went to scans etc.

Sorry you had to sleep on a cot that was so small, you would think they would have family accomodation like they do here in some of the children's hospitals so parents can stay over when the children are sick. Probably a chair with a feet ledge would have been more comfortable than that small bed. Sorry to hear about your sciatica. My friend suffers with that too, and usually i give her a deep tissue massage over the buttock (gluteous maximus) area and unknot the muscles which lasts her for a few weeks. Pity we don't live closer...

I'd love to see a pic of your crochet works if you feel like posting one.

Why did you have to come home without fumihiko? Or was it your choice?

I've realised after having the japanese kit kat tiramisu and a frozen "tiramisu" dessert from the japan supa, that japan has a totally alien version of tiramisu that has nothing to do with coffee and everything to with weird flavours that don't go well together. But mainly, no coffee.

Thanks for the BNL link. I love them!

I have stalled on my crochet at the moment. I may have to rip it out and restart. Plus, I left it in Koriyama, so I can't do anything with it now.
(Never fear, it's in the trunk of the car.)

I had to come back to go to work. I can only afford to take so many days off work. April is difficult because we have Golden Week at the end to, so I won't be teaching then either. If I don't teach my school and I don't make any money.

Sides, another night on that cot, and I'd have been sleeping on the floor!

Fumihiko moved from a private room to a group room after I left. It's much cheaper...but his doctor told him that me staying in the hospital was cheaper than me staying in a hotel. I'm not really convinced, but it was nice to be with him through the worst of the procedure.

I hate bananas and Japan puts them in EVERYTHING. It is so unfair.

Thanks for commenting.
