July 10, 2009 - Friday

Windy and cool in the morning, sunny in the afternoon.

Got up this morning most of the way through the news. It was on, and I watched the end of it. I had a quiet morning for the rest of the time.

In the afternoon I did a bit of prep for our dinner tonight. I was planning a quiche, so I did things like chop the veggies and measure out the milk and eggs.

I went off to work and didn't go to the drugstore on the way. I got to my school, turned on the air conditioner and went out to another drugstore. I got a few things for my apartment and for myself while I was there.

I had left my lesson set up on Tuesday when I left the school, so I didn't have much to do when I got back. I read one of my newspapers.

After my class I was getting ready to call my husband when he called me. I'd had a phone call at home. A rare occurrence. I finished up as quickly as I could and he came to get me.

At phone, I called the person back. It was my area rep from AFWJ checking on my thoughts about new proposals for my group. They were all fine for me.

After I got off the phone I put my quiche together. It didn't take long as most of the work was done. I put it in the oven, but F was using the kitchen, so I was in the way. I went and had a lie-down for a bit. Thought I'd try a bit of his medicine on him. I nearly fell asleep. I went back to the kitchen when it sounded like F. was done. I sliced some perfectly ripe tomatoes and put them in a bowl, and I fried the hash browns. When the quiche's time was up, I took it out of the oven. We had a very nice dinner. Hubby had made spinach nameru and that was lovely, the tomatoes were perfect, and the quiche was yummy. The only bad thing was that F finished before I did and started washing the dishes while I was still eating. Nothing says, "Hurry up," like having dishes bang and crash right behind your head. My chair is very near the sink.

We adjourned to the living room. He plied me with rum raisin ice cream and I watched Veronica Mars so the evening went well. I'm hoping to watch Lost in a few minutes, if his boxing crap is over...and maybe if it isn't.

Anyhoo, I'm going to end this now. I have a busy day tomorrow, and possibly a painful day after I go to the dentist. Wish me luck! Night.

I really miss Veronica mars, they took it off our tv ages ago, it was one of my favourites.

What is a nameru? Like a salad?

Glad you had a good day. I also wanted to say I love cold tomato on a hot summer's day! it's the best! :)

Nameru is a sort of Korean pickle. We often get it when we're out at yakiniku. It's usually veggies like grated daikon & carrot, bean sprouts, cooked spinach with a sauce, and zenmai (a mountain veggie) in a flavoured marinade. F made the spinach kind last night.

It's really nice. I think in some parts of Japan you can just buy it pre-made at the grocery store, but our local doesn't have it.

I like Veronica Mars, but I've only ever seen a couple of episodes. Hopefully I can keep watching it.

The tomatoes were great. They were grown locally too, so they tasted really fresh. :-)
