Sunday - Sunny and warm. Gorgeous day.

Both F and I stayed up very late last night. It was actually light out when we went to bed. We watched one show, which led to another which led to a movie and before we knew it, it was morning. I slept on until noon, F got up quite a bit earlier.

After I got up and we got dressed, we went out for lunch. F had heard about a place in the mall that had ramen AND other food and wanted to try it. He wanted to go there yesterday before my classes, but I said no because I don’t have a lot of time to waste on Saturday trying out new restaurants. I had pasta today, and F had his ramen. My pasta was good. Not in the great category, but certainly quite delicious and I would have it again. F’s ramen? Well, Mr. Pickypants didn’t like it of course. Said the noodles were overcooked. Thought the mini-don he got with it was too mini for the price. Oh well.

After doing a quick tour of the hundred yen shop, we headed over to the movie theatre to see True Grit. We got there early, F bought the tickets and I bought the popcorn and drinks. As I was paying I noticed a really big insect crawling over a basket on the display. A scary big insect. After googling just now, I think it might have been a queen wasp. I called the clerk’s attention to it and she yelped! I took my stuff and left the staff to it!

True Grit was great. It was a really well made, really exciting film. I never had any idea what was going to happen next. I completely understand why it was nominated for Best Picture this year and if The King’s Speech hadn’t been such a great film, I might have wanted it to win too! The cast was a standout and I think, Matt Damon proves once again that he can act…if anyone is still unconvinced.

After the movie, F and I went on a shopping mission. We wanted to buy new glasses for our apartment. We’ve had some breakages and we only have one large glass left. We went to a couple of places, but finally got them at a recycle shop! They were cheap, and about the right size, so yay for us. In one of the shops, I found a couple of dvds that I wanted, including A Month in the Country, which is an early Colin Firth/Kenneth Branagh film. Yay me.

We had a drink at a cafe near the place we got the glasses. It was our first time going there, although the building used to have a restaurant we went to quite often. We ordered drinks and the chef? cook? said that he remembered me from before. He’d used to have a small coffee shop in Marica before it closed. It was one of the few places I could go when I was supposed to be out of the L’Eikaiwa when I wasn’t teaching. I didn’t remember him, but I did remember the shop. I loved going there!

Next up we went to a yakiniku restaurant for dinner. It was F’s choice and it was good. We had a pretty decent meal there. We came home via the gas station and the grocery store. I’ll be cooking tomorrow night again.

We had a quiet evening at home. We watched the second part of Pirates, I watched Veronica Mars when it was on, and then F went to bed. It was a good day! Night.
