Saturday - Sunny in Tokyo, rainy and humid in Tsuruoka

We’re back! For the most part we had a great time, ate a lot of amazing food and met up with some friends. We were in Sydney, and while it was technically winter there, the weather was great. We took jackets with us, but we found that it very rarely was cold enough to wear them.

We stayed at a nice hotel, took in quite a few sights in Sydney and really did enjoy our time together. After last years debacle it was very necessary.

However, it didn’t start that well. F threw a snit fit on Saturday night and wouldn’t sleep in the bedroom. All fine and good, but I wasn’t able to sleep either and we had a horrible long day ahead of us. We flew from our local airport to Haneda airport and he was still nasty on the way to the airport. Why? Because (apparently) I was rude 3 years ago when we went to Hawaii and since I was obviously going to be rude again on this trip it was okay to moan and complain about me.

(For the record, 3 years or however long ago it is now that we went to Hawaii, I wasn’t very rude. We went on a package tour thing and they picked us up at the airport with a bunch of other people, took us to a DFS Galleria, and proceeded to harangue us all for 2 hours into buying some of their Japanese language tours. That was something that Hubs and I didn’t need, not only because I wouldn’t have gone on them, but because my brother lives there and had offered to give us a guided tour of the island. I made a few under my breath comments to HIM saying how stupid the whole thing was, and how much I just wanted to go to our hotel and sleep.

I tried to make him see that it was pointless to yell at me for something that hadn’t happened yet, and that he should be more concerned about my feelings in situations like I described. His response? The group was more important. Not particularly well received by moi, I can tell you!)

We hacked around Haneda airport and I showed him the new terminal. We bought a few things at the bookstore and even had lunch there before going back to the domestic terminal, picking up our bags again and then going on to Narita.

Anyway….I’ll try and write a bit more about our trip later. Basically it did go well and we both had a good time. It wasn’t perfect and we did have a couple of mini spats along the way, but all in all, it was a good holiday. Yay.

Came back this evening after an average dinner at a yakiniku restaurant. Found a mailbox full of stuff, including one postcard for each of us from Postcrossing (will post later….gorgeous) and a postcard from a friend.

F went to bed when I asked him if he could turn off the beeping on his camera (he was looking at the pictures and it beeped every time he hit the button to go back. He disappeared for the rest of the night.

I watched a bit (lot) of TV and think that I’m now going to go bed as I am quite tired. F woke me up at 6 am this morning in our hotel in Narita. He thought we were still in Sydney and had to catch our plane. It was quite funny, except I’m not a good person to wake up early. Don’t like it you see! Night.
