Postcrossing Cards - Incoming

November 2, 2011

A bumper crop for you today. I received a card on Saturday as I was heading out of town, managed to register it, but not to photograph it at all. Then, today I checked my mailbox and I found not one, not two, but THREE cards waiting for me. Woo-hoo! Happy dance commenced.

So... here they are...

First up, an interesting card from Slovenia. This shows Erasmus Knight's Tournament, basically a medieval re-inactment. This card arrived on Saturday.
What I like about it is the unusual way the card designer chose to show the multiviews. (Some people don't like multiview cards, but I do) I like the circles. Very neat.

Today, I received these three. First up, one that made my movie/celebrity- postcard-loving heart sing a little. Mesdames et Monsieurs, allow me to present, the one, the only...
Marlene Dietrich. This card came all the way from Helsinki, Finland.

This next one came from the Netherlands, although the picture is Spanish. The sender notes that she went to Barcelona for her holidays and she loves the city.
My apologies for a less than perfect picture. I think I'll have to get a tripod sometime!

Finally, a beautiful card of Washington DC and the cherry blossoms. This one comes from Maryland. The sender chose it for me to show my students. The cherry trees were a gift from Japan and the trees are in full bloom here.
I love the light pink and blue edging around the card, a gorgeous touch, and
a nice change from white!

Well, there you have it. All my beautiful postcards for today. Remember if you would like to see larger sized images, just click on the cards. See more postcards that I have received or sent, at this link.

I actually do have a small collection of black and white postcards of various actors and actresses. I haven't found any new prints for my collection in ages though. This does help a bit though!

Thanks for your comment :-)

Wow! Great postcards there. I've received some nice ones as well, but they all seem to come from Netherlands or Finland. Oh well, I don't really mind, I just find it a little odd.
I love the Marlene Dietrich one ;-)

It's funny, but I get a lot of cards (and send a lot to) the Netherlands and Finland too. I think they are really into postcrossing there. Postcrossing originated in Finland I think, so it's not too surprising, the Netherlands...I don't know, but I'm enjoying getting their cards!

I love the Dietrich one too. She was such an interesting character.

Thanks for commenting :-)
