Wednesday - Cold and snowy. I didn’t go out.
I stayed in today, but I got a lot of things done, so it was worth it. I got up early enough this morning, but really felt shell-shocked for a while. I couldn’t get myself to even think clearly for a bit.
I did a few loads of laundry and I made soup. From scratch. I got to use my new peeler that I bought in Sendai on the potatoes and it worked so much better. I feel like I didn’t waste half of the potato! It made short work of the carrot and even the broccoli stem too. It took me a while to chop all of the veggies. I had planned to use my slow cooker, then I decided not to. I made soup on the stove top, which meant I had to check it fairly often.
I was just sitting down to make some nengajo when F called. He told me on the phone that he’d like me to make him some nengajo too. For a man who didn’t want to send any, he changed his mind quickly!
After F came home, I got dinner sorted out. We had bought some cabbage rolls and some meatballs to put in the soup, so I brought it up to the boil again, and slipped them in. When it was time to serve, I got F’s bowl full and put it back on the table. I tried to do mine next, but my bowl got too hot, I tipped it a bit, hot soup splashed my hand and I let out a howl and knocked my bowl into the soup pan. I was a tad upset with myself and with F who was still sitting on the couch playing with his cell phone. I yelled at him that if he hears his wife yelling in pain, it might be a good idea to come and see what was wrong. What an idiot. I had to run my poor finger under cold water for a while, then sit through dinner with a wet compress on it. It was lobster red. F waited till I got myself a bowl of soup again and went back to the couch. WHY?????
Anyway, when I finally got him to come to the table he was surprised at how good the soup was! Hah! I have always made great soup. One of my many skilz!
After dinner I cleaned up the table a bit, put away some of the remaining soup and left the dishes for F to wash. I worked on his nengajo and ended up printing up 7 of them. He wrote his and I decided to request a few Postcrossing addresses. I wrote 3 cards tonight. They are going to Taiwan, Russia and Germany.
F was really annoying tonight with his TV choices. He watched some crappy TV show about teens being too fat and then going on super diets or something. I was more than a little annoyed. Japan has many food shows and programs where eating is the main focus, then when someone likes to eat they film it in very “isn’t she disgusting” kind of way. Mak oop yer mind, ye canna hae it both ways. (Sorry…it’s the Scottish coming out in me again.)
I got to watch Private Practice at 11 though. I had “booked” it earlier in the evening. It is now back on again. Tonight was kind of silly, but it’s okay. Hopefully it’ll get better.
That’s about it for my day. I have clothes drying in the spare room, 3 postcrossing cards, plus 4 nengajo going out in the morning and a lot on my mind! What will happen tomorrow? Come back and find out. Night!

Eating is great unless the person eating is fat. Then it's disgusting. It's extremely hypocritical. You can like food, but not too much or if you don't have the metabolism of a hyperactive rhino.
It's the same in the U.S. with food and showing commercials for pizza, beer, sweets, etc. and then writing a million articles about "the obesity crisis". Buy, eat, and buy more, but don't get fat. :-p
