Thursday- Sunny and warm
Weird day.
I got up late this morning. Or rather, I got up early, was still tired, went back to bed to sleep for a while and then woke up when I realised that F was in the apartment again. I didn’t yell at him, was actually quite nice to him for a change.
He left and I stayed up. I watched a bit of TV including a bit on NHK about eating the wild mountain vegetables. That was interesting, but knowing my luck, I’d probably poison myself if I tried gathering them myself!
It was such a gorgeous day today that I had to get out of the apartment. Sadly, I left it too late to go to the coffee shop and knew that going to McDonalds would be futile because all the kids would be there. Instead I rode off to find the new convenience store. It took a few minutes and I didn’t go the most direct way, but I enjoyed my ride very much. I bought some canned tea and a few thing for Saturday at the store and then came home. Somewhere on the way home I lost my bike seat cover. It must have ripped or something I didn’t notice.
F came home a little before 6 but didn’t seem too happy. He ended up going to bed and napping, while I watched Project Runway. It was the most recent season so I enjoyed seeing it again.
I got dinner underway after the show. Tonight we had a chicken and eringi mushroom dish with salad and cup soup on the side. We also had some cucumber sticks. It was quite nice and I got F to come to the table at just the right time really.
He did the dishes afterwards. I watched Lipstick Jungle and enjoyed it’s pure silliness, and then let him have the TV for an hour. We finally had our dessert during his time, I opened up the mincemeat pies from Christmas and we had a couple with some ice cream. I really missed not having them at New Years this year, but under the circumstances it was impossible.
At 11 I watched Royal Pains and after it noticed that we were having an earthquake. F didn’t believe me until he saw it on the TV. It wasn’t huge, but it did shake things up for the people on the other coast.
We had a misunderstanding about the TV at 12. I wanted to make sure that F had finished watching the program on the TV, before I changed the channel, so I asked him if he was done. He thought I was telling him I was done, so he grabbed the remotes and changed the channel. He was quite ticked off at me when he realised I wasn’t done yet.
It’s bad enough that we fight over food all the time, I don’t know how I’m going to stand if we start fighting over TV too. My VCR has stopped working basically (the remote has been dropped one too many times) and I have no idea how to work the DVR and that’s the way F likes it apparently.
That’s really about it for me. I’m a tad confused, but what’s new? Night.

Leave it to me to ask a stupid question - but are the TV shows in Japanese or English? We don't have English channels on our TV and I wondered if you could get any here?
The ones I watch are in English. Do you have a TV with BS on it? Broadcast satellite, for example, BS 103 the NHK Arts and Entertainment channel? Many of the North American programs are broadcast bilingually. If you have a stereo TV you can watch them in the original language. We also pay for WOWOW, which has a lot of programs in English.
There are other channels with English, but I'm not an expert!
My husband usually watched terrestrial Japanese TV. :-P
