Sunday - Cloudy then rainy at night
An okay day.
I went to bed so late last night that I slept in a bit today. I did see F a couple of times, once when he decided to go to his house and change his tires…that was fine with me! I did get up around noon and got dressed right away.
We had lunch a little later at the Grand El Son and it was nice. I had roasted chicken with a nut topping. It came with carrot cream soup and bread. We also got the salad bar and a kind of drink bar. The things at the salad bar were really nice. Cooked mushrooms, eggplants in oil, and even some toasted nuts. They had a few kinds of flavoured olive oils available too, so I tried them for my salad. Yummy!
The afternoon was rather frustrating as I wanted to get my glasses fixed and F wanted to see about getting new glasses for me. I think I need to wear glasses more as I have to put on my glasses for really casual reading now. Anyway, the first place we went to was “too expensive” according to F although they did tighten my frames for me. The second place wasn’t too bad, but F had to go to a meeting at 5 and it was 4:30. Guess I won’t be getting new glasses this month.
We came home and F left soon after for his meeting. It’s one of the apartment building tenant’s meetings. I wouldn’t go even if I could understand everything! Not much is going to change around here.
At home I watched some of the new channel and after a while F came home. We watched TV for a bit, then after a while went out for dinner.
We went to Midori Shokodo. It’s a restaurant that F usually likes and I usually don’t. Well, tonight we both didn’t like it that much! F had Midori Ramen, which was green. It had spinach paste in the soup. Weirdest looking stuff, honestly. I had vegetable fried rice. That came with miso soup and a bowl of yogurt for dessert. There were a couple of eggs on top, and some meat, and squid in the rice. It said shrimp too, but I didn’t see any. Mine was okay, but there was just too much and it was too greasy.
We went to the grocery store to pick up things for tomorrow’s dinner and that’s when things got better. We ran into an ex-student of mine, out shopping with his two daughters. I met them before when they were having their 7-5-3 photos taken, and now they’re both in university…so very different now! K and F and I chatted for a while and I think the girls got a very different idea of their father. I don’t know if they knew he could speak English as well as he does. We exchanged phone and email info using our cellphones so it was quite funny. A group of 3 oldies and two young ladies blocking the meat section. (F and K know each other through L’Eikaiwa and work, they’re both civil servants)
I had planned to make a stew tomorrow night, but the store didn’t have any stewing meat, so I switched to chicken. I hope I can think of a good way to cook it!
We came home and F put on the new channel so I watched a few TV shows. Nothing was really brilliant or “must watch” yet, but it is interesting to have more choices. Yay for choices.
Anyway, that was my day. It wasn’t too bad. I’m still feeling the effects of dinner. Bleck. Got to go. Night!
