Tuesday - Cloudy and grey

An okay day.  I got up this morning and showered, then spent some time on my computer.  I had a quiet morning really.

Around 1 I started making my lunch. It was a simple one, just an instant pasta mix with some stuff from the fridge. It was quite nice though.

I left for work a little before 2 and made good time to the school.  I set things up inside and then waited for my student.  She was a few minutes late, but when she came we had a good lesson.

After her class I got ready for the next student, but she couldn’t come.  She phoned me a bit after 5 to say that she was sorry because she’d been busy.

I finished up my paperwork and decided that since it wasn’t dark out yet and it wasn’t raining, I’d just ride home.  F’s back has been really bad lately, so I didn’t want to trouble him to put my bike in his car. I turned everything off and locked up.

My ride home was nice and quiet.  When I arrived home F was watching TV and he had locked and barred the door.  I had to ring the bell to get in! He let me in and after a little I caught the last ten minutes or so of Project Runway.

F requested that we go to dinner at the Taiwan restaurant we went to a few days ago. I wasn’t so sure, but made him promise that I didn’t have to have a set meal.  We got in and sat down.  We looked at the menu and ordered some duck, cashew chicken and a veggie stirfry.  F of course had ramen too.  I wasn’t terribly impressed by the food. It wasn’t hot enough and the veggie stirfry was really spicy.  The duck was so-so, but the cashew chicken was quite nice.  We added on an order of spring rolls later and they were okay as well.

We visited Yamaya on the way home and I picked up a few things for the apartment.  We came home, arriving around 9:30.  Next thing I know, F comes out wearing his pyjamas and announces he’s going to bed.  What?  At 9:30?  Still, off he went.

I did see him once later, but he’s spent most of the night in the bedroom, I’m out here watching TV and working on the old computer.  I did a couple of rows of my afghan tonight too. Yay for me.

Really, that’s about it for me.  I had a good day today, except I’d have liked to see a little more of my husband, but if he’s not feeling well, it’s probably better to sleep.  Talk to you tomorrow? Night!

I can understand why one of you at home alone would lock the door, but why also bar it when he knows you may come home and need to let yourself in? When my husband was away and I was home alone, I never barred the door so he could let himself in with the key without my intervention.

Maybe there's a reason I'm missing, but wouldn't it be good policy to never bar the door when one of you is out so that, if one of you falls asleep and are not awakened by the bell, the other can still get in?

I think he did it by reflex when he came home. I often tell him off for forgetting to lock the door, so he's trying to do what I want. He does forget that I'm out at work too.

To be fair, I usually don't come home by myself either, its just that I wanted the extra exercise :-)

Most of the time DH is the last one home so he locks and bars the door. He sometimes does it out of habit at other times, and I have to ring. It's irritating, but it's not like they are trying to lock us out.

I think it was just a mistake this time too Sherry. It was a reflex action, I don't think that he meant to lock me out. He came and let me in quick enough, so this time it didn't matter too much!
