I've had a great week or so of cards coming into my mailbox. I thought I'd take a couple of minutes and share them with you.
This cool black and white picture of Times Square is perfect for me. Never having been to New York, I love the idea of New York, and seeing it in glorious b&w and in an old shot really made me happy.
This card came from a German man who is living in the US now. He taught English in Sao Paulo for a couple of years, married a Brazilian lady and worked as a German teacher. He has now lived in the US with his wife for several years. He points out the similarity in our lives.

This pretty young girl comes all the way from Belarus. It was sent by Kate who describes herself as a positive and active person. She likes travelling, cycling, snowboarding, and knitting. She also says that this picture was done by Belarussian artist Hrutsky. It's been very popular on the Postcrossing site.

Madleen from Estonia writes that one of her best friends is also a Canadian teaching English in Japan. She thinks from her friend's pictures that Japan is very different from Europe. She wrote that she likes Germany a lot as she studied there and also did an internship there.
This card comes from Russia. The senders didn't sign it, but wish me the best. They asked what I usually do in winter and say that they go skiing and skating. They also make a snowman.
I can't write much about the card as the lettering is in Cyrillic, and I don't know how to read it. The stamps on the back are lovely though.
This friendly little dog comes all the way from The Netherlands. Marnix and Jolande send this card to me and note that they live in the same town as the Parliament buildings and the palaces of the Queen.

There you have it, a lovely group of five postcards. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.
I wonder what will be in my mailbox tomorrow?

I love the Times Square in B&W postcard. That shih tsu is lovely too, I miss my old dog.
The front of the cyrillic post card reads "Svoya Nosha Ne Tyanet", which means "No Burden is Heavy if it's Yours". It's the title of an 18th century opera. Vasili Paskevich if I recall correctly. Thank goodness I have remembered something from all those years of Russian lit in university, I think this is the first time it has actually come in handy since I came to Japan. ;)
Thank you! You never cease to amaze me! I had no idea that you could read cyrillic. It's a very apt title for the card. And glad your education hasn't gone to waste!!!
I love the Times Square card too, definitely one of my favourites. My favourite type of dog is a Sheltie, so I'm not "in love" with the card, but I do like it.
Thanks for your comments (and translation!)
My husband loves Shelties! I think when my kids are older we'll probably get one.
Be prepared to find hair everywhere! My mum was a registered Breeder in Canada and their undercoat gets everywhere. They also can be a little high strung...usually fine, but they don't like to be alone all day. They also can bark a lot. However, they are so gorgeous and so smart that it is okay. If you have a house and a yard where they can exercise it's not bad. Plus, they're herding dogs so good for keeping children out of trouble!!! (YMMV!)
