Wednesday - Rainy and clear by turn

I got up before my alarm this morning and stayed up.  I had breakfast and read the paper, then took a nap.  I slept for about an hour so I guess I really needed it.

In the afternoon I relaxed, watched a bit of TV and made a post crossing. I even wrote up a new card.  I was going to run them to the post office, but just as I was about to grab my jacket, the rain came back.  Sigh.

F came home and a little later we went out for dinner.  Tonight we went to a new restaurant/izakaya near S-Mall.  We had many small dishes of food. It’s hard to say what my favourite was, but I really enjoyed the kabocha gnocchi in a blue cheese sauce, and their guacamole was to die for!  I had read about the restaurant on my former student’s blog and her report on Facebook and surprisingly for F and I, she came into the restaurant to make a reservation for next week.  We spoke and I told her quite honestly that her pictures and description of the place made me want to come.

After dinner, we went to the grocery store and I got a few things for tomorrow’s dinner.  I also got a few things for tonight’s treat.  I had decided to make an apple crumble.

At home, I got all ready to do a little bit of cooking.   I cut up and peeled the apples, mixed everything up, but something wasn’t right.  I’m not sure what I did, but I must have used too much butter. It didn’t go crumbly, it was more of a cookie dough type thing.

I baked it and got started on tomorrow’s dinner.  I have a mid afternoon class tomorrow, so I plan to start my slow cooker in the morning.  I did a lot of the veggie prep tonight. I peeled potatoes, carrots and and cut them up too.  I did most of the things tonight while the crumble cooked.

I took out the crumble.  Disaster-ish.  I had burnt the top a little.  I was right beside the oven, I’m not sure why it burned.  Still, I gave F some of the unburnt part with ice cream and he liked it.  I did too.  It tasted good, but I think I used too much butter in the crumble. I should have cut it down.  I think I followed the recipe!

Anyway, that’s about it for me.  I did a postcrossing entry in my blog and have another group of cards to write up!

Tomorrow, I have to make stew and then go to my school. I hope it won’t be snowing or raining at the time I leave home!  Wish me luck with that!  Night.
