Sunday - clear and sunny, rainy in Tsuruoka

A good day.

I’m back a little early.  This whole weekend went nothing like I thought it would. It ended going very well, but started badly.

Friday if you remember was bad.  My side was incredibly painful and I just wanted to be able to sleep.  That night was awful.  I had to get up and sit on the couch.  I managed to get a little bit of sleep (about 3 hours) that way.  I was in bad shape.  F wanted me to go to the doctor, so after a while, I did.

The doctor wanted me to have more tests and to cancel my trip to Sendai.  Sigh. I’d looked forward to it for so long.  Still, I cancelled everything.  We had a quick lunch and then went to the hospital.  X-rays and then some strange news…I have a broken rib.  It had already started healing, so no idea when it happened first, but it might have been the source of the pain.  I was given a rib band and sent on my way.

Afterwards, at home, F and I talked about the fact that I was supposed to take some stuff to our ETJ Expo display and that I wouldn’t be able to do that.  We thought about it and decided that since I was feeling much better, perhaps we could drive part of the way on Saturday and then go the rest on Sunday, attend the Expo, but leave early, and come home.

It all hinged on getting a hotel room in Yamagata, which I managed laughably easily.  So, on Saturday night, F and I drove to Yamagata.  We stayed in a hotel, went out for dinner.  We even had an early-ish night.

This morning we had breakfast in the hotel and then drove for an hour to Sendai and went to the Expo.  One of the other AFWJ members and I took care of the table talking about our group and promoting it to ladies that might be eligible for it.  We had fun.  Halfway through the day, another lady joined us and we discussed plans for something big in our area.  The third lady was giving a presentation and I was getting tired so F and I packed up and left.

We had a bite to eat in Sendai on the way out, and then drove back to Tsuruoka.  In all honesty, I slept most of the way as I was really tired.  The pain medicine made me sleep a lot in the car. (Okay, I always sleep in the car, but this time I had a reason!)

I didn’t get to do the shopping that I wanted to do, but apart from that, I had a good time and got the Expo thing done.  Anyway, I’m off to bed now…so must say, “Night!”

Thanks for manning the booth even though you were not feeling well. The things we put ourselves through for this wonderful group! Yesterday I biked head on into the strong freezing wind blowing in off the ocean just to go to the big post office and get stamps for journal envelopes. I was thinking, I hope the recipients appreciate these stamps!

I know! It is a wonderful group though. As area rep, I'd received all of the goods for the booth, and as I wasn't going to be there, there wouldn't be anything for the other lady to show off. She was going to bring a Journal or two, but really, she shouldn't, know what I mean?

It all worked out. I went from complete agony to a mild dull throb, so felt that I could do it. My husband came to the Expo too, and stayed with me the whole time. I think he was afraid that I'd do something silly, or pass out!

I am sorry that I missed out on my shopping trip to Sendai (I was looking forward to getting more postcards :-( ), but I didn't think I'd manage getting on and off the bus with that big step in the front, or hauling my suitcase around, even with wheels.

It probably worked out for the best!
