Tuesday - Cold, windy, some snow, some sun
A different sort of day!
I got up at a goodly time today. I didn’t really watch much of the TV that was on this morning. I did however take my shower as early as I could.
I had some raisin cinnamon toast. F had made bread last night. It was very good, but I couldn’t really taste the cinnamon. Later on, I had lunch. I had a ham and cheese omelette that was rather nice, before heading off to work.
I headed out, got 30 meters down the road, and came back home. I’d put on a long sleeve shirt, but had forgotten to put on a jacket or sweater underneath my coat! I put one on and a much warmer person walked off to work.
At my school I grabbed my snow gear and went to the back. I shovelled from the building to the car area and then did my parking space. That bit was easy. The problem was the driving part of the parking area is really bumpy. There are big piles of snow, and also lower valleys where people have driven. I was worried if my student would be able to make it to the space or not. I tried to even things out, but the areas were frozen solid.
I went into my school just as it started to snow again. I vowed to go out again after 4 pm to check and re-do as necessary.
I was in the school getting things set up for a while. I set up the hot water pot, was changed into work clothes and was just going to check on the parking lot when the phone rang. My student was calling to say she couldn’t come. Sigh. I thanked her and rang off.
I decided to read some of the newspapers I’d brought over, plus do the paperwork. I was in the middle of my third newspaper, when F called and said he was outside. He’d planned to pick me up around 6. It was after that, but I wasn’t quite ready. Still, I had to go.
We went home for a few minutes so F could change his clothes and then we headed out for dinner. It honestly was a comedy of errors tonight. F had asked for one place that I hate (bad, greasy food), so I suggested another place. He in turn suggested a place he liked more, so off we headed. We got to the area and he couldn’t find the restaurant. Then he decided to take us to Mikawa to a new place he’d just read about. We drove out there and he couldn’t find the restaurant. Then we decided to go to our favourite restaurant. It wasn’t open. Then we decided to go to an Indian restaurant in Sakata. We found it, but it wasn’t open. F suggested a place in downtown Sakata. It was closed. Finally I suggested Steak Miya in Sakata. We got there and it was open. Hurray.
We had a lovely meal and both of us had the same thing, steak with soup and drink bar, plus fried rice. It was very nice. I don’t often have steak when I’m out, so this was a nice change of pace.
We drove back home afterwards. I had thought about going to the grocery store, but it was after 10 pm when we arrived home and we were both quite tired. So we didn’t. Sue me.
I watched Criminal Minds and then Sherlock. Series one is playing on the Educational NHK, non-BS. It was really great.
Anyway, that was it for my day. It was quite good really! Got to go. Night.
