Monday - snowy but not too cold

An okay day.

I got up before F thought I would (Ha!) and then made the executive decision not to go to Les Miserables.  I just wasn’t digging it this morning.

We vegged for a while, and then it was time to go for a very late brunch.  I suggested going to Cocos as it was near F’s car dealership.  Last week when we went, he ordered a new battery for his clicker key, but hadn’t picked it up.  We could eat and then get his battery installed.  We did that, and it worked rather well!  Then, we drove past my school and I set the heater for tomorrow’s class.

Next up, we went to Hard-Off, a second hand shop.  They sell kimono there and I have been thinking of getting one for myself.  I don’t really want to wear it as is, but I have a party coming up this year where we’ve been asked to wear kimono or something with kimono material.  I didn’t plan to buy anything today.  I didn’t plan to!  Last time I went to the store they had about 10 kimono and they smelt horrible.  In fact, my memory of them was so bad that I wore a mask into the store today!

Today, the kimono section was huge.  There must have been at least 100 of them, all types from the very formal, to the more casual.  I quickly found a couple that had material that I liked.  Of those, something drew me to one in particular. It had a design a bit like a pine tree branch on it. It was muted with greens, pinks, silvers and gold in tiny flecks.  F offered to buy it for me. It was 1000 yen. When we got to the cash register, it was on sale for 50% off, so it was only 500 yen!  I could have bought a couple of other ones as well and had a lot of fun choosing them. But…where would I put them?

We visited the mall for a bit of a shop and a cup of Royal Milk Tea.  We discussed dinner over our tea and I volunteered to cook it if we could get something to go with it.  I was going to do pasta so I could use the rest of the sauce from last week.  I wanted a side salad and maybe a protein too.

We went to the grocery store and came home.  F did some snow shovelling around his car space and I eventually got dinner underway.  F had to do some cooking too, he bought pork to go with our meal. Originally he’d wanted ginger pork but I put my foot down.  The pasta sauce was good, but delicate, ginger pork would totally overpower it. Dinner was good.

We had a fairly quiet evening here. F set up the bread maker for the morning and I watched a bit of TV and sent some email.  Tomorrow we’re both at work so we should be in bed, but somehow aren’t.  I have to run.  Night.
