Monday - Hot…around 35 degrees inside
An okay day.
I got up this morning a little late. I just didn’t want to move. I think I just have been getting too tired with the heat. I managed to rustle myself out of bed and get dressed. I did my usual morning stuff but forgot about laundry. Oh well. Whenever I went downstairs K was sleeping, so I just left her alone.
Upstairs I watched a bit of TV from the weekend and then moved my computer and self into the other part of the bedroom. It was a degree or two cooler because of the design of the room and it helped a lot. I worked on my column and managed to write about two films. I have one more that I just rewatched and then if I have time, I’d like to watch at least one more. Sigh.
Later in the afternoon, I did the dishes from breakfast and lunch and a short while after that, came downstairs to make guacamole. I had a few problems as one of the two avocados wasn’t ready yet. I think it was a bit strange as part of it was okay, and part of it was as hard as a rock.
F came back around 6 pm tonight. He’d asked if he should bring anything, and then suggested tofu which was fine. When he arrived, I washed my new frying pan (after finding out how to take care of it), heated up the sausages in it, put out the guacamole, the chips and the sausages with some mustard. F and I managed to work together without annoying each other so that was really a big win. We had dinner on the table fairly soon. We had some iced tea to drink as well. After dinner F cut a melon that had been in the fridge for a couple of weeks. He gave us each two pieces. For me, I thought it was off. It had a chemical smell, and the middle was opaque. I didn’t eat that bit, but ate part of one piece and then offered the rest to F. I told him I didn’t like it and thought it was off.
I ended up doing the dishes. I didn’t mind washing them, but F disappeared for most of the kitchen work. I know he was tired, but it was annoying. And then, one of the dishes slipped out of my hands into the basin. It didn’t break, but the one it landed on did. Oh no! It wasn’t my dish. If it had been the ¥84 yen cheapie from IKEA I wouldn’t have cared much, but it was one of K’s dishes. Sigh. I told F when he showed up and he took care of the disposal for me. He didn’t tell K though. He said not to bother her about it. She has a lot of those style of plates so she might not notice.
F had talked about going to the onsen or the Internet Cafe after dinner, but for a change, I asked to go to the onsen. I’d have to shower tonight anyway and I was too hot and sweaty. I thought an onsen bath might be nice.
We drove out there after buying gas. I went in and it was fine. I used the rotenburo, which I enjoyed and then spent a couple of minutes inside in the big bath. I dried my hair for a change inside the dressing room afterwards.
On the way back to the house, F and I stopped for ice cream at a convenience store. In our rooms upstairs we closed the windows and turned on the AC right away. It was so hot in our room.
I asked F if he’d like to watch The Great British Bake Off and he gamely did. I think he lost interest near the end, but he was tired. I watched Project Runway too tonight, but F fell asleep. He’s had a long day though.
Tomorrow F is off work. He’s supposed to go to the doctor’s office but I’m not sure if he will. I have to see if I can get my hair cut either tomorrow or over the next couple of days. Wish me luck with that!
I have to run. I have a lot to do tomorrow. Come back and see what I get up to later. Until tomorrow….
