Sunday - Hot, So Hot, and Humid

Actually turned into a good day!

This morning F woke me up when he turned on his bedside light.  It’s small, bright and hot, things I don’t like in a heatwave! He went downstairs for a while and then came back upstairs to say he was going to take his mother to the onsen.  I had asked him to wake me up the if he was going out, so I was glad he did.

They left and I went downstairs for a couple of minutes.  They’d left without locking the front door or even closing the front door.  Grr.  I took care of a personal chore and then grabbed the vacuum cleaner upstairs and did some of the floor.  I did out into the hallway too.  I put away my vacuum and got K’s and did the bottom part of the stairs.  I thought it looked good.  I came back upstairs and had just sat down to use my computer when F and K came back.  Sigh! F got a bit grumpy with me but we talked a little too and I mentioned something that I’ve been worried about, so that was good.

F had ordered sushi from the delivery place for our lunch.  I had originally suggested it for Friday’s dinner before he took the afternoon off.  It was a good call.  We all ate in the living room and had the sushi and some soup.  I contributed the veggie sticks I had bought yesterday and everyone liked them.

After lunch, I started to wash the dishes, but while I was cleaning out the drainer rack, F took over. It did annoy me a tad, but oh well.

Upstairs again, I pointed out that our sheet needed cleaning since F’s had some bug bites on his leg bleed all over it! I think it just happened since I didn’t notice before today.  F got all angry and immediately started to strip the bed.  He washed the sheets and then hung them up in the garage, and washed the mattress pad too.  We took the mattress pad and sheets to the laundromat near the house to dry.  It didn’t take long at all. Yay us.

I had asked that we try to make an appointment with my hairdresser, but she wasn’t open today.  I’ll try again on Tuesday.  We went to Doutors in the mall to have an iced coffee.  Mine was finished in about 5 minutes, F didn’t touch his for ages.  I drank my drink and three glasses of water for good measure too.  After some wifi use, we left.  We got a bento and a couple of things for K and then came back to the house.  F made the bed while I found the pillowcases that he hadn’t thought to bring to the laundromat and brought them.  We went out again with the plan to go to dinner, but on the way, F asked if I’d like to go to Mt. Gassan.  I was worried about timing and if it would be dark when we got there, but finally said yes.

We stopped for a couple of onigiris each and a drink and toilet break elsewhere, then drove out and up a mountain.  The views were lovely and we arrived at the parking area just as the sun was setting.  Of course, we took lots of pictures.  It was nice to be in the cool wind and not have any humidity around.  I would have stayed up there if I could.

The sun is setting...

I loved the clouds.

The sun is down...

We drove back to Tsuruoka afterwards and went to Moku-Moku.  It wasn’t a great choice tonight. It was busy at first and they were out of the kind of food I had asked to go there for in the first place!  I had wanted pasta, but they were out of one of the sauces.  I ended up having a hamburg and the waitress was greatly surprised that I didn’t want rice or bread with it.  Nope. Not me!  It had a few veggies and a few fries so I didn’t need more.  The hamburger was okay, better than expected.  F had curry and he said it was okay.

After dinner, we bought a few groceries for us at the MaxValu nearby. We came back to the house, did up the garbage and came upstairs.  I even put on my pyjamas.  Then, I found the flyer from our usual grocery store.  F had looked for it earlier, but couldn’t find it.  We’ve been saving stamps for some kitchen goods for months now, but according to the flyer, today was the last day to get the frypans!  I looked at F, he looked at me and offered to go and get them.  Wow!  I got redressed and we zoomed off in the car to pick them up.  We had to go to the branch near our old apartment as it was the only one still open.  Success!

We came back to the house and after a little bit of cold drink and a little bit of hot drink, I’m about ready to head off to bed.

Tomorrow I have to get a goodly portion of my column done. I’ve done the research, must do the writing.  I also have to make guacamole for dinner and a few other things as necessary.  Wish me luck. Until tomorrow….
