Sunday - Rainy and cold
A good day, completely different than I thought it would be!
We both got up this morning but managed to sleep in a little. F gave his mother something to eat, I got dressed and we went out to meet my friend. She was already in the restaurant with her children, so we went in and joined them.
We had a good meal. I’m not sure if my friend did as she had to take care of her children. We helped a bit by keeping an eye on one when she was off somewhere with the other one, but no big deal. We spent a few hours in the restaurant and then had to go our separate ways.
F and I went to the Chido Museum again. The parking lot was full, but the room with the swords and armour wasn’t. We spent a bit of time there. F got to look at a few swords and I enjoyed seeing him so interested in something. We toured a few of the other buildings today too. I wasn’t really sure why, but it was fine.
After the museum, I was looking for a drink. F offered to take me to Doutors in the mall but then turned the other way. I suggested somewhere else and off we went. We went to Cafe Studio Cinq for coffee or tea. It was nice, quiet, and they have a nice view plus free wifi. Yay.
Around 5 pm we left but toured the souvenir shop first. We didn’t buy anything but had a good snoop. We looked at some of the local handicrafts on offer, but they were really overpriced. They may have been worth the amount of money being asked, but we couldn’t figure out who would pay that much money. There was a pair of sandals made out of the local straw for 80,000yen or a hat with rips in the fabric for 100,000yen. I craft and I know that the worth is more than the cost of the materials, but I honestly couldn’t imagine who would pay that much money for the item.
We went to the local grocery store to pick up a few things for the coming week. F had decided that he would take his mother to the onsen tonight. I said I’d stay at the house while they were gone, then decided to go along after all and do some crochet. We could all have dinner at the onsen. That’s almost what happened.
When F and I were putting food away, his mother came into the kitchen and told us that her mother was in a hospital nearby. She wanted to go and visit her. F and K had a few words and he decided to take her. I’m really glad. Because K is quite deaf, the only way to talk to her is to shout, so I can’t always tell if F is angry at his mother or just trying to communicate.
We got ready to go and drove to the hospital. I assumed I’d stay in the car or out in the hospital’s lobby, but no. We all trooped in to see K’s mother.
K spoke to her mother and she did open her eyes, but that’s about it. We left after a few minutes.
We drove to the onsen, F and K took baths and I stayed in the lobby. I found a corner of the lobby under the TV and stayed there. It was a bit dark for what I needed, but I managed. I finished my crochet row and started another one. Yay me.
F, K and I had dinner in the onsen’s restaurant. They both had noodles of different sorts, I had katsu curry, which was good, but a bit too filling.
On the way back to the house I mentioned to F that I had a 500 yen coupon from the drugstore that would expire tonight, so asked if we could go. I needed a few things. We dropped his mother off at the house and then went to a drugstore.
We picked up a few things and then came back to the house. F went to sleep almost immediately, he’s quite tired still, and I took a shower and then watched a little TV.
I’m not sure what I’ll get up to tomorrow. I am really hoping to finish up my blanket over the next couple of days and then I can work on some of my other projects. That will be nice!
Come back later and find out what my Monday was like. Until tomorrow….
