Wednesday - Sunny and warm

I had quite a good day today. I woke up early, but snoozed a bit longer.  I got up again after F left, watched the news and then ER.  After that, I did a couple of loads of laundry and caught up with things in the world. I also did a bit of sashiko on F’s jeans that I am trying to repair.  I’ve finished the smaller holes, now for the big one. Gulp.  I hope it goes well!

I caught up with some of the stuff on the DVR today. I enjoyed most of it. F came back when I was eating my lunch and we chatted for a bit, I even made him some coffee.

I didn’t see too much of K today, she doesn’t really talk to me much and I think she avoids me when she can, truth be told.  I don’t mind too much. It can’t be easy for her having a daughter in law around that she can’t boss around!

F called around 5:30 to say that he was on his way back to the house so I asked him to pick up a salad and some butter for us. I went into the kitchen and started some water for the pasta and then made some garlic toast for us. I used the last bit of the butter and mixed it with some garlic powder.  I cut the bread and spread the slices, wrapped it in aluminum foil and left it until F got back.  F came back but hadn’t been able to get a salad for us. He did bring some lettuce and proceeded to wash and cut it up for us. Yay.  I heated up the shrimp and also the alfredo sauce. I warmed the bread. Finally, everything came together, but it was a bit panicky for me as I hadn’t heated enough alfredo. Yikes.  It all got done though.

Dinner was good.  We had spaghetti with alfredo sauce and shrimp, plus salad and garlic toast. K gamely ate all of the pasta and shrimp that we gave her but did pass on the garlic toast. After dinner, F washed the dishes and I dried and put them away.

We went driving when we were done. F wanted to scope out a couple of places that he has to drive to in the daytime to make sure he knows the way. His work car doesn’t have GPS! I snoozed a bit as it was dark out and the country roads aren’t well lit.

We ran a few errands after he was done. We got a few more groceries and then some gas for the car. We ended up at Starbucks for a frappucino each. We even sat at the big table with the plug-ins so that F could charge his phone. His phone just isn’t holding the charges anymore. Truth be told, neither is mine, although his is more necessary than mine is.

We came back to the house around 10:30 and I went into “Gomi Mode”. Tonight though, I asked F to help me clear out the fridge. We buy his mother a lot of prepared foods and she keeps them and never throws them out.  There were little bits of things on plates that we couldn’t identify, so out they went.  I even threw out some medicine that had a 2005 expiry date.  I ask F to help me so that I won’t get into trouble! F, bless his heart, even washed the containers and plates for me, so that was good.

I got the other garbage bagged up in the kitchen and then put it in the genkan. Upstairs, F and I combined our garbage and then he took it to the genkan.  Done and dusted for tonight.

F took his shower first and I watched Grey’s Anatomy. It was quite a good one, about the Day of the Dead festivities, if you can call them that.

And that’s about it for my day. It was pretty good. I have a few things on my mind for tomorrow. I’d like to do a little more mending. Poor F, I did tell him it would take me a while to get his jeans done, but it has been interesting too. I’m not sure that what I do is strictly sashiko as it isn’t very decorative, but I am a beginner after all!

Come back later if you like and see how Thursday goes. Until tomorrow….
