Tuesday - Hot and sunny (what else?)

I woke up early this morning, around 6 am.  I went downstairs and basically worked out that K must have gotten up and gone outside. That was probably why I woke up.  I came back upstairs, switched on my fan and went back to sleep. Next time I woke up, F had left for work already.

I had a good if quiet day today. I didn’t do any laundry, in fact, one of my big tasks of the day was scanning my incoming Postcrossing cards. I was very much behind. I also realized that I received the same card from two different people in Russia, within a few days of each other.  It happens sometimes.

I didn’t turn on the AC until a little after noon. It was so hot by then that I had to do it. It was horrible this afternoon.  Anytime I left the room, I switched off the air conditioner and when I came back it had heated up by at least two degrees. Sigh.

I saw K a few times today. The one time I offered her a drink she turned me down.  No worries. She seems to be taking care of herself which is good.

I wore my new shorts today. I got a pair for summer a couple of weeks ago. They were quite comfortable really.  It really was a lot cooler in them.

I made some tea early on so that I could stick it in the fridge to cool down before dinner. That was a good idea.

F came back to the house around 6 or so. I prepared the zucchini sticks-I cut up the two zucchini that we had bought the night before. I put them on the table early and gave K some caesar salad dressing to dip them in.  I don’t know if she ate any before dinner, but I wouldn’t have minded.

I got F to heat up the rice and I boiled the taco meat packs.  When the time was up, it was just a simple matter of plating the rice, taco meat, cheese and salad.  I had to use cabbage because there wasn’t any lettuce in the store!

All the food disappeared and so did all the zucchini sticks!  Admittedly, I ate a lot of them, but K really went to town on them. I thought there might be a few left over, but they vanished. I wonder if it is a holdover from wartime or poorer times with her? If you had food you had to eat it all or someone would steal it?  It would go bad?  I dunno. I make food, and sometimes there is extra, but it rarely makes it back to the fridge!  We had some Japanese purin for dessert. Of course, I served it in the containers it came in, both K and F upended them on their dirty taco plates.  Eye roll.

F washed the dishes and I dried. There weren’t that many as most of the food was precooked or from the store. Yay for that.

We went out for kakigori to Komeda Coffee tonight. I had my usual cafe-au-lait one with a side of ice cream, F had a new to him one of apple with a side of ice cream.  They were lovely! His smelt so good when the waitress brought it to our table that I nearly swapped it for mine. But didn’t. Mine was really good too.

After an hour or so in the coffee shop, we headed over to the drugstore to pick up a few things, then came back to the house.  I took a shower and after a long while, F did too.  The weather is so hot that I really need to take more showers.

And that was about that. I am having lunch with a friend tomorrow. Our original lunching place didn’t work out, so I’m not exactly sure where we are going to go tomorrow.  I’m still looking forward to it, hopefully, they’ll have air conditioning!

Come back later if you like and see what I get up to on Wednesday.  Until tomorrow….
