Wednesday - Sunny and clear

This morning I got up for a while and then came back upstairs and got back into bed to watch the news. I watched it for the most part, but then snoozed through Bake-Off. It was Masterclass so I didn’t feel too bad about it.

I got up, took a load of laundry downstairs to wash and then grabbed my breakfast. I brought it upstairs to eat and it was nice. Just cereal and yogurt, but I liked it.

I had a terribly quiet day today. I didn’t see too much of K, but I said hi when she poked her head in the kitchen.

I was thinking about going downstairs to start dinner when F called and said he was on his way. Yikes. I sprang into action. Sort of.

I heated up yesterday’s stew, got another pan on the stove with water in and took the puff pastry out of the fridge. I’d taken it out of the freezer earlier on. Like last time, I boiled some pasta and added it to the chicken stew, then poured the whole thing into my casserole dish. I covered it with a lid made out of puff pastry, egg-washed it and then baked it. I also made some sausage rolls with the leftover pastry. I set them aside to bake later.

I got the rest of dinner on the table. I was going simple tonight. The chicken stew/pot and a salad. That’s it. There were pasta, veggies and chicken in the stew, so it wasn’t like we needed more stuff.

Dinner got great reviews. The pastry looked amazing on top. It was very dark brown. Another minute or two and it would have burned but I think I caught it just in time.  I baked the sausage rolls during dinner and stuck them in the fridge for tomorrow. I told F he could have one for breakfast, but I don’t know if he’ll remember.

After dinner and the dishes, F and I went out. We went to Komeda Coffee and had a drink and used the free wifi for a while. It was nice for me to get out of the house.

When we left, we went to the grocery store and picked up a few necessities for tomorrow. I needed bread and a lunch salad amongst other things. At the check-out, I made F practice social distancing by making him wait for the clerk to finish with his  customer before getting too close. He was looking for the lines on the floor to see how far away he should be, I just rolled my eyes.

We hit up the drugstore too for some shampoo for both of us and a few other things. It was late at night so quite quiet there.

We came back to the house and had a quiet evening in. F watched YouTube videos, I watched a couple with him. One was about MMA fighting and the other was about filleting anago (eel). The anago one was at least sort of interesting!

That’s about it for me for today. F will be away tomorrow night at a party, so I’m on K watch. Hopefully, he’ll remember to call the sushi delivery place and order some dinner for the two of us. If he forgets I’ll have to whip up something from the freezer!

Come back later if you like and see what happens. Until tomorrow….

Your dinner sounds delicious! I haven't had chicken pot pie in forever. Since Dave is a vegetarian, we tried to make one with faux chicken and it was sad. Lol.

Stay healthy and keep practicing that social distancing!

Thanks! Actually, it really was good. I made it from one of those packs, you know, like curry roux. I added all the veggies and the meat, so I had some say in the flavour. They are hard to mess up really.

When F is at work, I'm usually at the house. During the week we go out at night when things are much quieter anyway. I am trying to be more cautious about going out but I get really sick of staying in, so I really need to get out of the house sometimes.

I'll try on the social distancing. The places I like to go tend to be quieter anyway. I've never liked crowds. One good thing about seeing movies in English like I do, they tend not to be too busy in my little city!

Have a good weekend! Thank you for stopping in.
