Thursday - Cool but sunny
I woke up early to make a washroom run and then fell asleep again. I couldn’t wake up, even with a million alarms, so it was rather late when I dragged myself out of bed. I still watched the news and enjoyed it.
I had a fairly decent morning. I watched Project Runway again and then the rest of the Richard Gere mini-series on TV. I think he was the least talented member of the cast, and for me, it was cool to see Sarah Lancashire whom I remember most as Raquel on Coronation Street in a major part, as a woman running for UK Prime Minister. Helen McCrory was amazing of course. That took up a lot of the afternoon, including my lunchtime.
While I was watching the show, I wasn’t completely idle. I started making a mask out of a tenugui or a hand towel. I’m hand stitching it so it takes a bit of time.
After lunch and the mini-series, I watched an episode of The Walking Dead. It was a really sad one with the two girls from the prison and Carol and Tyreese. I was glad to be able to get it off the DVR though. Only two more to go!
I went downstairs around 5:30 to wash my dishes and F called when I was down there so I knew it was time to start getting dinner ready. After I washed my dishes, I started defrosting the fish packs from the freezer.
When F arrived, I started doing some cooking and soon had dinner on the table. Tonight we had a fish stir-fry with salad and marinated mushrooms. K and F had rice as well. I’d also made tea during the day, so there was a nice rosehip and peach tea to drink. K was a tad annoyed that I hadn’t served her bamboo stew, but I had told F that I wouldn’t eat it today. She’d left it on the stove overnight and I am not convinced that it would be safe to eat. F and K are adults and they are welcome to eat it, but my system can be a little delicate and I’m not risking it.
Over dinner I learned that much of Japan is out of the Emergency Protocols now. Here in Yamagata we are going to be reopening a bit. We still aren’t supposed to travel to other prefectures, and should still wear masks and social distance, but we can go out and about. The movie cinema in the mall is going to reopen on Monday, but with many social distancing protocols apparently. I haven’t read anything about my closer cinema. Fingers crossed they think it is safe to reopen soon too. They are a much nicer cinema than the one in the mall and they get a much more interesting batch of films.
After dinner, F helped me by washing the dishes and then he set up the bread maker to make bread. He decided to have it bake tonight instead of overnight. I was happy because when it was ready, we got to have some! And it was good.
I didn’t even turn on the TV tonight and F and I had a fairly nice evening. I watched some YouTube for a change and tried to relax a bit.
F and I did have a few words over what Social Distancing means. I told him it meant that he shouldn’t crowd people in the grocery line (like he does) and he said that I shouldn’t block people in the stores (which I don’t think I do.) I asked him how I could block him from getting close to other people when I was standing behind him but he couldn’t give me a straight answer!
Anyway, he’s off to bed now and I’ll likely go fairly soon too. Tomorrow I have to come up with a plan for dinner and work on my mask a bit more. Come back later if you like and see how my day goes. Until tomorrow….
