Wednesday - Rainy, cloudy and finally cool

I didn’t hear F leave this morning, so I was rather surprised when my alarm went off. I got up and made a quick downstairs trip before watching the news. I did have a tiny nap this morning after watching the news but got up before my alarm went off.

I had a decent morning. I did do a load of laundry and hung it up in the room. I watched a bit of TV too. I watched half of a mini-series with Richard Gere and Helen McCrory, set in Britain. I liked it, but I’m not sure exactly what is happening yet.

There was a horrible smell going on downstairs. K was “cooking”. I opened the windows and tried to bring in some fresh air.

I spent most of the day upstairs in the room. In the morning there was a huge and very loud hailstorm. I tried to take pictures but wasn’t fast enough.

I watched the news and then went downstairs to see what was happening in the kitchen. K had a huge pot of “stuff” on the stove. It looked like bamboo stew.  I had been planning to make a fish stir-fry for dinner, but I thought that K might be upset if we didn’t eat her food. I made one side dish, a mushroom marinade and left it on the table. The whole time I did that, K kept coming in the kitchen, seeing I was there, and then leaving again! I didn’t feel too wanted just then.

I went back upstairs when I finished and I heard K go back into the kitchen. It is too bad that she didn’t feel comfortable being in the kitchen with me.

F called to say he was done work and I explained the situation. He agreed that my stir-fry wouldn’t go over that well tonight.  He came back to the house a few minutes later. He had a conversation with his mother and it turned out that she’d wanted to make this stew but didn’t have miso or meat for it!  I suggested using some of my unused meat from the freezer and F volunteered to go and get miso. He even asked me to go with him, so I got out of the house today. Woot!

We made a quick trip to the grocery store and then came back to the house. Of course, K found the other box of miso in the fridge, so we didn’t have to go, but so what!

When we came back to the house, K did her thing with cooking. F helped a bit too, and I stayed out of the way. I set the table and got a few things ready to go. Nothing was happening so I went upstairs for a while too.

Finally, we got together and had dinner. It was okay. The bamboo stew wasn’t that great. The soup base tasted a bit gritty or something. I think adding it at the end wasn’t a good idea. My mushrooms were great and so was the salad I had.

When we finished, F helped clear the table which was great and he washed the dishes while I dried them. I still have issues about HOW he washes the dishes, but I’ll keep my mouth shut for now!

We had a quiet evening upstairs. I watched Project Runway and then did up the kitchen garbage for the night. I watched Grey’s Anatomy later and got a good laugh at it. This was an episode that had Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs from Charmed playing sisters whose sister was in the hospital. It was really funny, although I probably shouldn’t have laughed at the situation.

And that basically was my day. I’m not sure what will happen tomorrow. Hopefully, K will not be upset that I won’t be eating any more bamboo stew as she has left it on the stove overnight and it is really too warm for that kind of thing.

Come back later if you like and see how Thursday goes. Until tomorrow….
