Thursday - Humid and rainy and warm

Today was quite a nice day. I slept a little late. I woke up but stayed in bed for a few minutes later. I watched the news and decided to record a movie off WOWOW.

I had a quiet day at the house. I did laundry around 10:30 and was amazed to see that the lint trap was now back!  I even sent F a text to let him know!

I watched Christopher Robin this morning and afternoon. I had maybe seen it before but I couldn’t quite remember.  I didn’t like the movie too much overall. I didn’t hate it, but it just didn’t like it that much.

I saw K around noon and I told her that she could have the leftovers from yesterday’s dinner if she wanted. There were a chicken drumstick and some zucchini. It was gone a bit later, so I think that was a good thing!

In the afternoon I relaxed a bit, folded up my dry laundry and chose some stuff for wearing tonight. F called around 5:30 to say he was on his way but would stop and get his mother something for dinner.

When he came to the house, he got changed. I had changed into a shirt and new pants, but just before we left, I ended up finding another new pair of pants and wearing them instead. I think it was a good choice!

We took a taxi to an izakaya and had some yakitori and sashimi. It was really nice. F had a couple of drinks. He got in my bad books a little bit tonight because he ordered himself a second drink and didn’t ask me if I wanted something else. I actually did want a second drink but didn’t get one. I had an oolong tea as my first drink and was going to get something alcoholic for my second one. I didn’t there!

We walked to the Good Luck Cafe then and had some fries and some shrimp ajillo. I also got my drink there!  I had an umeshu on the rocks and it was nice. While we were there, there was a lady that came in and was really, really drunk. It sounded like she said that it was her birthday today. F told me that she wasn’t Japanese, I didn’t think that she was just from the way she spoke and acted but I didn’t know. The bar staff were really surprised but actually handled the situation as well as they could. She had a drink and then came over to our table and shook our hands and got down on the floor to apologize to us. It was a bit sad.  F told me that it wasn’t her birthday, it was the birthday of someone that she was either close to, or respected a lot. I tried to tell him that those situations can be really hard. I still “celebrate” my mother’s birthday somehow, and she’s been gone since the mid-’80s. I don’t go out for drinks, but that’s not my style.

After we finished our drinks and the food, we went to yet another place, Murasaki. It’s a snack I think. They weren’t too busy there. They did have plastic up to keep people separated from the staff, but this was the first place where the staff wasn’t wearing a mask.  F had some sake and I had another oolong tea. After an hour, we asked them to call a taxi and we came back to the house.

We had a bit of a snuggle and then F fell asleep. I came over to my computer to do my blogging and stuff.

It was quite a good day. Tomorrow F has the day off, so we’re hoping to go to his favourite restaurant for lunch. After that, we’ll have to play it by ear. Little Women is playing at the cinema, but I’m not sure if F will be in good enough condition to see it tomorrow!

Come back later if you like and see what I get up to on Friday. Until tomorrow….
