Wednesday - Hot and sunny

I got up this morning a little later than usual, but no harm done really. I watched the news, did my usual stuff. There weren’t any movies on today that I wanted to watch, so I didn’t! I did watch the weekend’s Downton Abbey episode, it was a corker! It was the one where Rose gets married and  Anna gets arrested.  

Today, I tried to do laundry. I went downstairs with my basket of laundry but when I opened the washing machine, the lint trap was missing. What the heck? I’d noticed it had quite a lot of lint in it last night, but I always clean it out before washing my clothes. K was nowhere in sight to ask her either. I decided not to do my clothes, which was a bit sad, but I couldn’t help it. 

I had a bit of a quiet day. I worked on my mask again and realized that I have to jury-rig a channel for the elastic cord that I bought. That took quite a bit of time to do. I put some stuff on YouTube and got on with it. 

A bit after 5:30 F called to say he was on his way back. I went downstairs and started to put dinner on the table. Tonight we had fried chicken, salad, zucchini, and beets. We all had miso soup, but I skipped the rice that F and K had. Dinner did get good reviews, so that was nice. F did come and help with the dishes…he has such a strange way of doing them though. My eyes roll, but I remember wise words that a friend said…something to the effect that whoever is washing the dishes gets to do it their way. So, I keep my mouth shut and just dry them.

F said that he asked his mother about the lint trap, but she has no idea what happened to it. Or she can’t remember. I know that I didn’t do anything to it, F doesn’t think he did, so that leaves K. It probably fell into the Bermuda Triangle. 

F and K went off to the onsen tonight. I stayed here, took care of a personal chore, and then settled in with my pyjamas to watch Project Runway and work on my mask again. F came back just as it was starting, and asked if I wanted to go out, but I was watching Project Runway. Of course, I wasn’t going anywhere!

I went downstairs and took care of the kitchen garbage tonight. I also went into the fridge and threw out K’s month old bamboo stew. She puts things in the fridge, but doesn’t take things out. I also discovered that I’d forgotten to serve the chawanmushi that I’d bought specially for tonight’s dinner. Sigh. Oh well. 

I took a shower and then came upstairs and watched Grey’s Anatomy. It was pretty good. Afterwards, I went and spent a bit of time with F. I think I really need to get off my computer and spend more face to face time with him.  He still had his computer, but at least he talked to me too. Last night he suggested that on Thursday night we go out for a bit. I want to go, but I hope that we can do that safely. He wants to walk to the izakaya, but it is quite far away. He offered to drive me to a certain point, drop me off, take the car back to the house and then walk to meet me, but that idea sounds ridiculous! I then said why not just take a taxi?! I’m afraid that it is so hot these days that walking that far would be rather unpleasant. I also reminded him that since he’ll be working that day, he might be tired. He’s thinking about it. 

And that was my day. I’m not sure what I’ll do with myself during the day. Perhaps a bit more mask-making, or some tidying up? That would be a good thing!
