Wednesday -Sunny and warmish

Today was a good day!

I woke up a little late, but it wasn’t a problem. I went downstairs to use the washroom, but K was in there. I came back upstairs and then went down again when she left. After I left the washroom, she went back in!  Toilet Tag.

I watched the news but maybe dozed for a couple of minutes. However, when it was over, I got up and sorted and then washed some laundry. How about that!

I had breakfast and then started to get some cards ready to go out. I also had to wrap my nephew’s birthday present and a card for a friend nearby. When I was ready I got changed, went downstairs and told K that I was going to the post office.

I rode off after pumping up my bicycle tires. I went to the post office and it took a few minutes to get there. When I was across the street, I saw the mailbox and getting closer it was quite amusing.

Much cuteness!

I’m glad I got a laugh outside because inside wasn’t so funny. I had pre-registered my nephew’s package online, so I had to print something out in the post office. I did that and then went to the counter…and they had no idea what to do! It was a little funny. There were three ladies huddled around my package. One of them kept asking me if I’d gone to the convenience store to print the label!  Err, one of the ladies had helped me print it out. Anyway, while some of them were taking care of that, I asked another lady to check my in Japan cards. She did, and I found out that they were more expensive to send than my cards to overseas. Does that make sense? It’s because they are oversized for Japan. Anyway…got those restamped and sent my overseas cards (the second batch) and something to my friend in the next town…and they still hadn’t figured out my big package. They were phoning around and then there was a resolution. Yay!  It was okay, but they had to figure out what was inside. They didn’t really understand what a “sweatshirt” was. I helpfully indicated the sweatshirt that I was wearing! They were fine after that.

Anyway, they finally took it, there were lots of “Sumimasens” floating in the air, but no anger or anything. It was fine. I know these things are complicated and I wasn’t at the main branch or any where that they often have these kind of packages.

I went across the street and went to the drugstore. I picked up a few things for myself, then planned to go and see a newish shop that had opened nearby. I walked my bike over to it and saw that it wasn’t open. Oh dear! I had thought about a new type of tea for myself or something. Shoganai.

I biked back to the house and came inside. I was going to grab my lunch but K was in the kitchen so I didn’t. I went upstairs and watched the news, which had already started.

I stayed upstairs for about an hour and then F called me. He was on his way back to his house. I went downstairs and got started on dinner.

I had a not very exciting dinner planned tonight. I did baked chicken in the toaster oven, stir-fried eggplant with a cumin-spice thing, leftover stir-fried rice with leftover shrimp put in it and a bacon and mushroom thing. Oh and salad too, of course. For some reason, K kept coming into the room to check on me. It’s really annoying and it is a new thing. I’m not sure if she’s trying to see if I need help or if she’s trying to hurry me up. Either way, it isn’t working the way she wants it too!

F came back and was in the washroom, I was in the kitchen and had my heater on, plus the microwave and the toaster oven on. And, the breaker went! I had to get F to come to the kitchen and reset it for me. Reminder to self to put the heater off when I'm using both appliances!

Finally things were cooked and put out on the table. I think I had things out a few minutes after 7 pm, which seems to be K’s “new” idea for dinnertime.

We ate and seemed to enjoy it. F made himself more rice, but that was on him.  Most of the food got eaten, so that was good.

I got to clean up the kitchen of course and do all the dishes. Luckily I had the podcasts on and could enjoy my time. I hadn’t used too many different pans or dishes, so it didn’t take forever.

I went upstairs when I was done and F and I went out. I’m going to make stew tomorrow night and so I needed some more meat. We went to the store, I got some and a couple of other things and then hit up a convenience store for some blank nengajo for me. I was too afraid to do another transaction at the post office earlier! Then we came back to the house. I put the groceries away.

We both took showers tonight, although I took mine early on, before New Amsterdam and F took his after midnight. He’s in bed now, hopefully sleeping.

So that was about it for my day. The weather was gorgeous and it was nice to be out and about. I’m glad I was able to use my bike today.

Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
