Sunday - Rainy and windy
I woke up early when F said there was an earthquake. I think I felt it and then I went back to sleep!
When my alarm went off I got up and so did F. He gave his mother brunch and then after a lot of arguing about places, started out for lunch. F only wanted ramen and I didn’t. It’s so weird because up in our room he suggested 3 places and I said yes to 2 of them. The other one has great food, but doesn’t have a lot of space for customers…no social distancing is possible. Apparently, none of them were what he wanted, after he suggested them.
I got sick of him being a jerk over where to eat so I asked him to drop me off at the mall so I could get pasta for lunch which is what I wanted anyway. He did, but as I was opening the car door, the wind caught the door and opened it very far. F was quite upset about it. It wasn’t on purpose on my part.
I went into the mall and had lunch at the Pizza Hut Express. It was good. I had the Genovese pasta with bacon and grilled vegetables, plus salad and a mini pizza. After my meal, I went upstairs and was going to go around the hundred yen shop when I thought I’d text F. I told him I was finished lunch and that he could pick me up if he wanted, or he could meet me in Doutor and have a drink. He texted me back that he was at the mall and we met up and had a drink at Doutor.
After Doutor we went over to the Art Forum. We went to see the Marc Chagall exhibit. It was really interesting. I’m not sure if I had seen it before as we went to Yamagata city to see one a few years ago. We spent a couple of hours there looking at the paintings. I wrote to friends that my brain hurt from trying to read the Japanese and the French title cards and trying to figure out what they meant.
After the Forum, we picked up a bento for K and then F and I came upstairs to our room to relax. It was nice and friendly and quiet. Around 7:30 I suggested that we go out for dinner and then got into the whole “Where shall we go for dinner?” thing. I suggested the usual places but he wasn’t too into them. We finally decided on the Chinese restaurant in Kushibiki. We drove out to the restaurant but it was already closed. Oh no!
We drove back to Tsuruoka and jokingly I suggested going to Edoichi, the yakiniku buffet place. He’d suggested it yesterday but I thought he was joking. He turned in and parked the car. We went in. The place was nearly empty and we went in, paid and were given a table. We actually had a decent meal. I hope it was okay for F though, he’s the one who keeps saying that he doesn’t want to eat meat.
We ate and then we left and came back to the house. We both took showers and I watched Project Runway and then the end of a movie with Tommy Lee Jones and Hillary Swank. It looks like I should have seen the whole thing.
And that’s it for today. Tomorrow F is off work and is taking the women in his life to the doctor! He’s taking his mother in the morning, hopefully, me in the afternoon. We’ll see how it goes.
Come back later if you like and hear all about my day. Until tomorrow….
