Monday - Sunny, warm and windy

I went to bed so late last night that it was getting light. Oops.  I slept until my alarm went off around 8:30. F left with his mother to go to the doctor and I slept longer. I was still in bed when he came back. Oh, dear.  However, I did get up when he talked about taking me to the doctor in the morning.

We went to the doctor, waited around for a bit and was seen for 5 minutes or so. Probably less! We picked up a prescription and then went off to have lunch. That was more difficult than you would think!

F wanted to go to his favourite fish restaurant. We went there, but it was closed today. We went to a second fish restaurant. Closed today. The New French restaurant near the mall…Closed. Finally, I suggested going to the Daiichi Hotel, so that’s what we did.

Lunch was okay, but not great to be honest. We both had pasta. I liked mine, F didn’t like his much, but he’d chosen the cheaper lunch so it was his fault really!

After lunch I wanted to use a bank machine, so we went to our old grocery store. I grabbed some money and deposited some of it in another account at another bank. Yay me.

After that, I asked F what he wanted to do and he suggested going to the beach. I wasn’t sure, but it was a lovely sunny day, just very windy. He drove down past Kamo and then to Yura. We got out of the car and walked across the bridge and looked around the tiny island. The views were gorgeous and the wind was causing a lot of big waves.  I took quite a few pictures there. I was quite surprised as there was a car on the island. It waited for us to get off the bridge before it headed back to the mainland. However, there was another couple heading over the bridge so the poor car had to back up. The bridge was so narrow I’m not really sure how the driver did it. We didn’t watch so maybe it didn’t?

Car on the narrow bridge! Yikes.

Here comes the wave!

We looked around the island, took a few pictures and then headed back to the mainland. We went to another beach after making a pitstop and getting some drinks. It was windy at the second beach but deserted so we walked over to the shore, or nearly to the shore. We came back to the car and drove to another place. F wanted to take some photos of a statue, which he did. I looked at the ocean, but the sand was really blowing in this area so I headed back to the car.

We drove back into Tsuruoka and came back to the house for a while.  We relaxed for a while. Around 6 pm I suggested thinking about dinner. I wasn’t too hungry but knew that K hadn’t eaten since early. Since she had a cold, F didn’t want to take her out.  We went to a grocery store and got her a bento and a few other things for the kitchen. We came back to the house and delivered the bento.

Then, it was our turn. I had suggested a new restaurant and F was okay with it. We drove all the way across town and discovered that it hadn’t opened yet. We were two days too early.  F wanted either the Chinese restaurant near where we used to live or the Curry place. I was fine with either. We drove past the curry place and when we got near the Chinese place it was closed too! F suggested Kintaro Sushi and I was fine with that.

We went, got in right away and had some lovely sushi. This is a good keiten sushi place. It doesn’t have fancy trains, but it does have good food.

We ate and the bill came in at less than our lunch, so that was good!

We went to the grocery store and I picked up a few things for dinner for the next couple of nights. I’m going to do chicken tomorrow night and probably shrimp and broccoli on Wednesday. Wish me luck!

We came back to the house and relaxed after we put the groceries away. F went to bed a while ago, not sure if he’s sleeping yet or not. He’s tired and told me a little while ago that he isn’t feeling well. Oh no! I hope he hasn’t caught K’s cold.

I watched The Good Wife and then turned off the TV and watched a bit of YouTube. It has been a good evening. Heck, it’s been a good day!

Come back later if you like and read all about my day. Until tomorrow….
