Monday - Rainy and cloudy
I woke up early for some reason, I’m not sure why. I think it may have had something to do with the window being open overnight. I went back to bed and got up a few minutes late.
I did get up and watched the news, then went downstairs and grabbed my breakfast. I had breakfast and watched a little TV.
I did have a short nap this afternoon, but I couldn’t help it. I was so tired! After my nap, I went downstairs, came up again, and then went down around 2 to grab lunch. I had a nice lunch, watched a bit of a weird film and then the news.
During the day, F had called me to say that he has taken Wednesday off so that he could take his mother in to get her doctor to check her for the Covid Vaccine. Japan is really taking its own sweet time rolling out the vaccine. It’s almost obscene how slow they are.
I went downstairs early today to start working on dinner. I made curry at F’s request. It’s not difficult, but I needed to prepare a lot of vegetables. I had a lot of the veggie prep done before F came back and kept working until I got it all in the pan. Finally, a little bit after 7 pm, it was done. I had sent F a message showing him that there were only 10 minutes left on the timer, so expected he’d come down soon. He didn’t. I put the rice in the dishes, poured on the curry and took it to the living room. I sent him pictures of the table. Still didn’t come down.
K and I started eating and then I decided I had better go and check on him. Sometimes F gets mad when I go upstairs and bother him, so I was a bit worried about making the trip. However, I found him all wrapped up in his quilt on the bed, and he seemed to be asleep. I said his name a couple of times and woke him up. He was tired.
He came down with me and we all ate. The curry seemed to be really good tonight. I had used new potatoes to make the curry so it had a different bite tonight. The curry was good enough that everyone wanted to have seconds, so F helped me do that in the kitchen. Yay.
I did the dishes tonight and listened to my podcasts again. I also washed a few extra things to go into my kitchen tool drawer.
I said goodnight to K and told F that I was going upstairs, and did. We had a quiet evening in. F isn’t doing too well. The weather change is always a bit hard on him. We’ll probably start the rainy season soon since it has already started in the south part of the country.
I watched The Good Wife and then turned off the TV. F is sleeping now and I really should try and get to sleep soonish.
That’s it for me. Come back later if you like and hear all about my Tuesday. Until tomorrow….

I'm so surprised that Japan hasn't started vaccinating the elderly like F's mother. Hundreds of millions of people around the world have had the vaccine, but Japan still seems to be taking a "wait and see" approach, which I hope doesn't backfire. Japanese are good about following rules and masking up, but that hasn't been enough to keep the virus away completely.
You're good to make curry. I'll not mention your curry adventures to my husband as he loves it and I don't like it at all so I won't cook it! We used to go to a Japanese restaurant that served it and that is always what he'd have, but since we've been avoiding restaurants, it's been a long time since he's had it, poor dear.
Japan is being soooo ridiculous with the vaccinations. They haven't even done their medical staff yet. Cases are growing and I think that they aren't telling us the whole truth. On the local level, vaccinating the elderly is so complicated that the elderly can't do it by themselves. Having to take MIL to the doctor to make sure it is okay to give her the vaccine? Huh? Whatever.
Because Japanese bodies are so special and different from all the other peoples of the world[snort], they need to do their own tests to make sure that the vaccinations are safe for their population. I think the hope was that they would make their own vaccination for Japanese people.
And I like Japanese curry, I'd just rather have Indian curry! I'm not sure if my MIL would go for that. Of course, I don't know how to make that!
Thanks for visiting :-)
