Saturday - Hot and Sunny

I had a hard time waking up today as I didn’t feel I’d slept enough. However, I dragged myself out of bed and got dressed to go to the doctor. F took himself downstairs to make breakfast for his mother. I went downstairs around 10 and asked if he was ready to go. He wasn’t. He’d thought our appointment was at 11am but it was actually at 10:30. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for him to get ready and we were on the road. The doctor’s office is fairly close to the house so we did make it in time!  Then, we were lucky enough to do the sit and wait thing. I started a new book at the clinic today, Hitching Rides with Buddha, which a friend had given me.

I won’t go into all the stuff at the clinic today, but for some reason, I had worn my nice new top/dress and the doctor picked today to ask me to have a blood test. Sigh. It went well, but as usual, I asked them to let me lie down when they take my blood. F was making his usual vampire/mosquito jokes and I wish he would just quit! They aren’t funny and I’d really rather be alone for the blood draws.

After we were done at the clinic, we got our meds and then had to head back to the house to get F’s phone. He grabbed it and then we went on a disappointing search for lunch. The first two places we tried were closed. F wanted to go to the fish place in the Bussankan. We went there, had to wait and then got seated on tatami. It was kind of a self-service place. We had to pay for our meals from a machine, go and get them when they were ready and bus the dishes afterwards. Not sure what the waitress was there for! My food, despite being rather expensive, was only okay. F did seem to like his a lot, so I guess that was good.

From the Bussankan, we went over to Komeda Coffee. We both had iced decaf coffee. I nearly fell asleep so F suggested going back to the house. We did that. When we got back to the house, I carefully took off my top and went and had a nap. A very long nap! It was around 4 I think that I went to bed and I basically woke up for good around 7 pm.

F grabbed a bento for K from the grocery store and a little bit later we went out for dinner. We went to Gusto. There weren’t a ton of people there, but the tables hadn’t been cleared yet. I think the staff must have been slammed. One of the waitresses cleared off a table for us and then we were able to sit and order. F had a yakisoba dish that looked okay. He even grudgingly admitted that it was okay, but the noodles were too soft and too thin. I had chicken namban which had so much coating on it that I couldn’t taste the chicken. We shared an order of fries and both of us had the drink bar. Dinner was okay.

When it was over, we just came back to the house. It was too late to go anywhere really anyway.

I took a shower and settled in to watch FBI. It’s an okay show. After that, I watched a show I’d DVR’d yesterday. I didn’t know anything about it when I saw the ads in Japanese for it. It turned out to be an Australian drama about a transgender girl going to high school. I enjoyed the first episode, it seemed to be well done and quite sensitive. I also thought it was quite amazing that NHK would show something so progressive!

I also caught Mad Max: Fury Road on cable tonight. I love that film, even though I hear that Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron did not get on! I liked the character that Theron played.

So, yeah, that was my day. I did a bit of reading a real book and a book on my iPhone, napped, ate some okay food and stayed out of the sun. I hope I get to do some of that again on Sunday. Until tomorrow….
