 Sunday - Hot and Sunny

I went to bed very late this morning, the sun was coming up. Darn.  I kept having Walking Dead images in my head which made it hard to relax and fall asleep.

I woke up around 10 but insisted on snoozing a little longer. I dragged myself out of bed and over to my computer. F came upstairs and asked if I wanted to go out for lunch. It wasn’t even 11 am yet, so I said not quite yet. About half an hour, he asked again and I said it was okay. He phoned a restaurant in Fujishima and we went there for lunch.

Today I wore my other new dress with my cool grey leggings with scales and patterns on them. I felt rather nice. We drove off to Fujishima and found our restaurant. They sent us to their sister cafe and that’s where we had lunch. It was quite nice. I had their roast beef donburi and F had their ginger pork sauté.

After lunch, I wasn’t sure what we were going to do. F wasn’t either! He started driving out to Atsumi Onsen. He asked if I’d like to go to an ashi-yu or foot onsen. I said no because my leggings wouldn’t roll up enough to let me put my feet in the water. I wish I could, but if he’d told me before we left the house, I would have worn something else!

We stopped at Sharin, a roadside stop for a washroom break and an ice cream each. We had blueberry mixed with vanilla. That was rather nice. We made it into Atsumi Onsen and went to the cafe that has an outdoor foot-bath. We went in and had a pot of tea each. It was nice.

After the tea, we came back to Tsuruoka. It was a fairly long drive, we even went through a tunnel that was six kilometres long! It seemed to go on forever. F went to a bank machine and I started to do a bit of shopping. I got something for the next couple of nights for dinner. Tomorrow I’m going to do a couple of chicken breasts in the fish grill. I hope it works.

After the regular grocery store, we went to Gyomu Supa. I replaced some of the usual staples that I’ve run out of. F and I also got some more sunflower seeds, and I picked up some more hummus, this time with chilli oil in it, and a type of decaf coffee. I’m going to try it and see if I like it. I hope it really is decaf, and that I like it.

We came back to the house and put away the groceries. F wanted to order bentos for dinner tonight, so we did that. I went with him to pick them up, although I didn’t go into the store.

When he came back to the store, he was a bit puzzled. We’d been given two miso soups.  We didn’t order them.  I looked at the food and it didn’t seem correct. I reminded him that we’d ordered a side dish as well, but it wasn’t there. He looked at the receipt and we decided that he’d been given the wrong food!

He took it back to the store and came back a few minutes later with the correct food! The clerk had made a mistake.

We drove back to the house and ate. I got out the glasses and the tea, then we sat and ate. My bento was okay, but to be honest, I don’t like this bento place and find most of their food to be boring. Also, that was two meals that I had rice with today and that is two too many in my opinion. After I finished eating, I went upstairs to change my clothes. I wasn’t going to start doing dishes in my nice dress.

I was upstairs for a couple of minutes, but in that time F had started doing the dishes. Of course, he didn’t do it properly, but he did clean the bento bowls and put them out for recycling. I didn’t like the way he did the glasses, so I redid them after he left. I dried and put them away too.

I went upstairs and moved my computer over in front of the bed. I joined a Zoom meeting that my women’s group was having. It was okay. I didn’t really know anyone at first until a friend from Iwate joined in. We had a bit of a text chat and said that we should really have our own private chat sometime!

Around 10 pm I left the meeting. F had been back and forth behind me a couple of times, and even though he didn’t complain, I thought it was a bit sad that he should have to do that in his own room. My friend had just left and I was getting tired of staring at the computer screen.

I put on my “cooking” clothes and went downstairs. I got out the chicken breasts for tomorrow and mixed up some tandori paste with some yogurt, removed the skin from the breasts, slashed them on both sides and then slathered the breasts with the tandoori paste.  I put them back in the fridge to marinate overnight. I’ll hopefully cook them in the afternoon to let them cool down before dinner. I’m planning tandori chicken salad for dinner.

I came back upstairs and watched Project Runway. It was good tonight. Sadly, the South Korean designer dropped out for health reasons and one of the other designers nearly did. The good thing was they brought back one of the other designers. Hurray. Tonight though, I think they sent the wrong designer home.

And that’s about it for my day. It was a really good day with hubby. Oh, before I go, I have to tell you about a dream I had this morning. I dreamt that I was at the airport, going through Immigration to leave Japan. I was in line, just about to see an officer (except it was a Canadian one, not a Japanese Immigration Officer!) and then I realized I had forgotten to get my PCR test. It was so strange. Of course, I wasn’t able to travel and the guy wouldn’t let me get on the plane!  I know that in real life, I probably wouldn’t have made it that far if I hadn’t had a PCR test, so it was really weird. I don’t have any plans to travel at the moment anyway so I’m not sure what was happening there.

Until tomorrow….
