Wednesday - Slightly overcast, hot and humid
Today had an early start. Happily, I went to bed a tad early last night so I was able to get up. However, F decided that I should get up a few minutes before I planned to. I told him that my alarm was set in ten minutes and I’d get up then. I did! I’d also had the foresight to put my clothes together last night so that I could get dressed in a hurry.
We left the house a few minutes after 8 and drove to the clinic. We went in a few minutes early and checked in. After a little wait, we were let in to see the doctor (my regular doctor) and he went over the form with me in English (yay him!) and I affirmed that I did want the vaccine and I knew about the possible side effects. I went into the next room with a nurse and she gave me the shot. I barely felt it and before I knew it, it was done.
We had to wait around for 15 minutes in case I had any problems with the vaccine. After time was up, they gave me back my ID and sent us on our way. Half done! Woot.
F and I went to Gusto to have breakfast. We got there about 10 minutes after they opened so it was quiet inside. We had our breakfasts and they were very nice. I made good use of the drink bar and drank a lot of water.
After our meal, we went back to the house for a while. I tried to nap a bit, F made himself an appointment for a massage. I asked that he drop me off at the mall while he had his massage. He took a shower and I got redressed. We went down and out to the car when he was done. We got in the car and F started towelling his head and face, it was a humid day and he’d just had a shower. Unfortunately, the next thing that happened was his glasses broke! Yes, his almost brand new glasses broke. Wow. Luckily, since we were still at the house, F could run upstairs and get his old glasses. He did that and came back to the car. We were a bit late leaving. F dropped me off at the mall and stopped for a few seconds to phone and say he was running late and was still coming.
I went inside and did a little shopping. I picked up a few things at the hundred yen shop and checked out the DVDs in the electronic shop, but didn’t buy anything.
I went down to Doutor and had a glass of Rooibos tea and waited for F. I read my book for a while and enjoyed that. After a bit, F called to say he was coming and I asked him if he’d like to have a drink too or if I should meet him at the door. He chose a drink, so I waited in Doutor. I bought him an iced coffee and myself another drink, an iced decaf coffee. That was nice. We discussed what to do and I came up with the idea to go to the Bussenkan, the touristy souvenir section. F checked online and there were a couple of restaurants open there, so we should be good. We got there and the first restaurant was a little expensive. We went to a new place in the second building that we’ve been to a few times before. We had a pretty nice meal of tonkatsu.
Next up we went to the glasses shop and F explained what happened to the clerk. She sold him a new identical frame for half price, then was able to attach the glasses to the frames. We walked out about 25 minutes later.
Next up, we hit up a drug store for a few personal things.
We went back to the house again for a while. Neither F nor I were hungry and K was mostly in bed when we got back, so she probably didn’t need food just yet. I had a bit of a snooze and rested. I’ve mostly been feeling fine, but during the day I’ve had a few aches and pains. My arm has become sorer over time and sometimes it just hurts a bit.
We went out again around 7:30 or so. F and I drove over to MaxValu and picked up some groceries for the next couple of days. I hope I’m up to cooking tomorrow!
I’m going to do chicken tomorrow and probably pasta on Friday. I got a few veggies as well. We went through the checkout and as I was going through with F I realized that one of my new students was also in another line! I waved and he seemed surprised to see me.
He came over to say hello while I was packing the groceries so he got to talk to my husband. I think he was a tad surprised that F was Japanese and he asked if we spoke Japanese or English at home. I told him that I couldn’t speak Japanese very well, so we spoke English together. It’s a fairly common question. He said that he’d see me in September, I reminded him that I’d see him online next week!
F and I came back to the house. He gave K the bento that we’d got for her. Neither F nor I were ready to eat yet, so we put our bentos in the fridge for later and I went upstairs.
I spent some time on my computer and then F came upstairs. He’d been watching the Paralympics. He actually volunteered to do the garbage in our bedroom and then while he was downstairs he did the kitchen garbage too. How sweet! He didn’t do the same things that I do, and he forgot to clean out the drain’s garbage, but he tried. When I asked him if he did it, he went down and took care of it. I’m rather touched, to be honest.
I took a shower and then came upstairs and watched the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy, season 17. It was pretty good, all about Covid and catching up with some of the characters. I ate my bento during the show and did some crochet when I finished eating.
And that was it, I had a pretty good day. I’m glad that I was finally able to get vaccinated. I hope the aches and pains are as bad as it gets.
Come back later if you will and hear all about my Thursday. Until tomorrow….

Congratulations on getting your first shot! Hope the side effects aren't too bothersome--though I think getting covid might be more bothersome than a few side effects. Take care and stay safe!
Thanks! I've been fine today, a couple of twinges in my shoulder, but really nothing serious. It hasn't been as bad as the flu vaccine usually is!
Yes, I've been quite afraid of getting Covid, so I'm really glad to get the shot. Another month or so and I should be good for a bit. I know it is still possible to get it, but hopefully, it would be milder if it happens.
Thanks for visiting :-)
